Chapter 16: Doorstep girl

'This kid is too good. Is he an envoy of vampyrs?' Chief wonders. Barret on the other hand keeps ranting about Karl. Chief's eyes glow bright blue.

"Have you ever been to the red border?"

"No. What is that?" Karl answers genuinely.

'No change in blood flow, not a single drop of sweat, constant breathing and zero signs of nervousness. Either he is an elite or I am thinking too much.' Chief concludes.

Barret smashes the table in anger. "LISTEN TO ME. HE IS THE CULPRIT."

Karl silently looks at Chief's eyes. 'He did something. Is he checking that I am lying or not?' He turns towards Barret.

A furious expression could be seen on Barret's face. Karl smiles very widely. Chief notices that creepy smile. "Mr. Barret, I did not hurt your granddaughter. If I did she would have at least lost a limb." Karl says it arrogantly.

"YOU!" Again, Barret's hand is covered rocks, smashes Karl into a wall behind.

Chief sighs visibly. 'I am overthinking this. These are the same cocky kids who thinks that they own the world. If he knew that he is standing in front of a knight, his reaction would be a lot different.'

Chief snaps his fingers and Two men in black suit appears and pins Barret down. "What did I told you? Behave like a knight." Chief says it in a threatening tone. "And you two take him away." Chief points at Karl. Two men appears out of nowhere and takes Karl out of the interrogation room.

'Reading those chinese comics paid off well.' Karl says as he praises his acting skill.

Surprisingly the men takes Karl outside of the Crystal dome at the same spot where he was dropped when he came here. After a while, the same black van shows up flying and Karl sits in it.

Inside the interrogation room a beat up Barret is on the ground. Chief is sitting on a chair, looking straight at the wall. A man appears behind Chief. "Chief. Mr.Barret is unconscious, should we take him away?"

"Yes, anything about Leonard?"

"That kid? He went back quietly." Chief grunts as he thinks about something.

Concerned, the man in the black asks "Do you think that kid is the assaulter?"

"Maybe. But we dont have any proof that he did it. That kid has the backing of Phirsecots so we cannot just punish him anyway."

"Is that fallen knighthood that powerful?"

"No. No. Actually it's the opposite Phirsecots are at their lowest and many knights are after their treasures. But we are dealing with a high knight injured or not."

"Treasure? Like the Gale sword?" The man says in excitment. Chief's face turns ugly as he sees his excitement.

"Is something wrong?" The man asks noticing Chief's unusal behaviour.

"N-Nothing. Keep an eye on that kid. I have a feeling that we will meet again."

Karl's steps outside of the van and he is at the school again. There is no one at the gate as the sky is turned black. A man steps out of the van and grabs Karl's hand. He touches Karl's watch with his own. The red screen on Karl's watch disappears and it looks normal. Then, the man gets inside the van and it flies away. Karl checks time and sees that it is past midnight. He walks in a weird way towards his dorm, feeling tired. He checks his watch and sees many texts from Ian and Andressa. Karl opens Ian's text.

"Are you okay?"

"Did they do something to you?"

"If you don't answer till tomorrow, I will come to get you with my father."

'I got a such a good slave.' Karl calls Ian.

After a few seconds Ian picks up. "H-Hello?"

"Yo! I am back." Karl answers,

"LEO! Are you okay?"

"Yes, just a few scratches here and there." Karl glances at his foot.

"So, what happened?"

"Listen-" Karl explains all Ken's teaching and interrogation to Ian.

"Then, have you really slept with Andressa?"

"NO! Are you dumb?" Karl snaps.

"Then, why do you have her underwear in your room?" Ian questions in a sly tone.

"Because, I was prepared to arrested. I left no clue and came back anonymously." Karl clarifies.

"Really?"

"Just shut up."

"Fine. Fine. Anyways my father has agreed to recommend you for the knight succession. So, you need to learn a new spell in 13 days."

"Sure thing. I need to sleep now as I am tired. We talk more about this in morning."

"Yes, May the Horizon See You." Karl hangs up. 

When he reaches his dorm and climbs the stairs. He hears a small whimpering sound.

'AGAIN?'

Karl peeks a corner and sees a lady sitting at his door, He slowly gets closer and sees that she was sobbing.

'I would be happy if this is a real ghost.'

He looks more closely and sees that its Zena. "Hey Zena, Is that you?" A red faced lady with swollen eyes and uneven hair looks up. She jumps at Karl and hugs him. A purple light flashes. Karl summons a rock just in case.

"What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Karl askes in concern.

"It's Martin's brother Sian and his men, They are Looking for you"

Karl sighs "And why is that?"

"When you left for the duel, I went to see Martin in the hospital. I saw him cheating on me with a student. I got mad and attacked him. We fought little too hard and wrecked the infirmary. But he used a petty trick and got away. He said that he will come with his brother to hunt me and you. I was fired by the academy for brawling with a fellow instructor and for destruction of academy's property. All of my accounts are seized. My job, my money, my property and my identity all of that is now gone. It won't be long until the federation is going to come after me. I was hiding here from the evening."

"So, why is Martin looking for me?"

"He thinks that you are the reason that he got caught, so he wants you dead and he is serious."

Karl laughs loudly "And you think that I give a shit about him?" 

"You idiot, you don't understand the seriousness of the situ-" Karl puts his hand on her mouth. 

"Be quiet Zena , don't worry nothing's going to happen" He wipes her tears as he says that. He grabs her hand, Unlocks the door of his dorm. 'Well, this isn't the first time a girl was crying at my doorstep and got consoled by me.' 

"Stay at my place for tonight we will talk about this tomorrow." 

They both get in.  Zena sits at the bed, Karl gives her a glass of water. "Thank you ,Leonard"

"Call me Leo." Karl sits next to her.

"Yes Leo, by the way what is that?" Zena points at the rock which is Karl's hand.

"Uh. Don't worry about this." He puts the rock away and lays on the corner of the bed.

"Where is Martin now?"

"He ran away from the school. The student who was with him is now in therapy."

'Damn. Peak feminism.'

Karl gets up again. He grabs a blanket and spreads it on the floor.

"I am going to sleep on the floor. So, use the bed comfortably." Zena nods.

Karl sleeps on the floor. Zena looks at Karl sleeping for few minutes and sleeps.

A loud knocking sound is coming from the door which makes Karl to wake up from his slumber. Just as he opens his eyes, he sees to pair of melons in front of him. This startles Karl.

He looks ahead and sees Zena sleeping beside him. She smells nice. Karl notices her attire.

'Is that my uniform?'

Zena is wearing only one shirt which clearly shows her assets and nothing at the bottom.

Karl slowly gets away trying not to wake her up. He glances at the bed, which is empty.

The knocking sounds intensifies. Karl opens the door and sees Andressa pouting.

"Why did you answer Ian's text and not mine?"

'How annoying.' "I was too tired-"

Andressa cuts in and says "What is that sweet smell?"

"O-Oh, it is coming from me." Karl tries to cover up.

"You? You smell like a pig who hasn't bathed for days." This annoys Karl further.

'Technically, she is right. I haven't changed since yesterday.' Karl sees his flaw.

"Step aside." Andressa pushes Karl. 'What hell is that strength?'

Karl thinks as he looks at Andressa's huge and round body. Andressa steps in and sees half naked Zena sleeping on the floor.

"ARE YOU CHEATING ON ME?" she yells.

'What?' 

Zena wakes up from the noise. Her curves and assets are seen in all their glory. She asks in a seducing voice. "Ah! Is it morning yet?"

Karl looks at the floor and asks "Zena, Why are you in my clothes?"

"Hmm? It was too hot yesterday and you slept first. Leaving me alone. So, I just grabbed a shirt and wore that."

A hand tightly grabs Karl's shoulder. "SLEPT FIRST? YOU WERE WITH HER?" Andressa looks like a demon from hell now.

Karl looks at Zena for help. Zena stands up and the shirt fells off.

"Oh! Too loose."

Just as Karl is about to get a glimpse of the paradise, a punch lands which knocks Karl out.
