Chapter 11

Reed said, “Jim will be okay. Remember he’s a snake eater, but what about Brian? We can’t let him out alone.”

“I’m going to have to make up some bullshit story about why he can’t go by himself. I guarantee that when he hears what I have to say, he’s going to earn strokes. Goddamn Bull; if he wasn’t so good at his job, I’d tell you to get rid of him and take over as Dungeon Master myself. He’s letting his past interfere with the present.” Bear sighed. “I’ll call Brian. The best I can hope for is that he’ll go with Jim. No matter what happens, he’s going to be pissed at me. You don’t want to be around a pissed off Brian.”

“You’re afraid of him.” Reed laughed. He picked up the paperweight Jim gave him for Christmas.

“Don’t be so quick to laugh. What do you do when Jim’s pissed off at you?” Bear asked.

“I hang out with you until it all blows over.” Reed laughed for the second time that morning putting down the paperweight in his hand so he wouldn’t drop it.
