Building A New World

Every monster species has a powerful essence they draw from for strength. It comes from a primordial force dormant in their bodies that allowed their ancestors to rival the demon clans throughout the dark ages. Long ago they were completely controlled by these primordial instincts. They would fight among the other species over land or human mates. As time went on the demon clans began to feel threatened by the increased number of monster species appearing around the world. Worried they would one day be overwhelmed the demons took action. The demons began to oppress humanity and culled their numbers as much as possible. When the other species saw this they began forming factions to engage the demons. The result was a constant war waged among the lands. Humans scattered across the world trying to find places to avoid their extinction. Some humans found sanctuary in the elven cities hidden within the forest. Seeing them on the verge of extinction elves taught humans magic to protect themselves, but it wasn't enough. These battles plaguing the earth caused the angels to descend to protect humanity. As the demons, and angels clashed it almost broke the world. This led to a ceasefire, and a treaty was established. The world was rebuilt into a new landmass for the survivors that remained. This event came to be known as the first dark age and occurred over a thousand years ago. Since then three more dark ages have plagued the land. Due to this history, many humans consider these monster species to be evil, and it's why so many conflicts exist today. This story follows a young Nephilim named a century after the fourth dark age. After a tragic loss, Zack has had problems of opening up to others. Because of this, he's traveled alone for the past two years, but one day he meets a demon that changes everything. --- https://discord.gg/8zjAdmNtHB Has polls that involve the story, character list, the R-rated scenes marked, and a full-size pic of the cover.

Chapter 68

Aleister threw a punch towards Zacks's face, but he stopped it with his hand sliding back in the dirt. A few ferals charged behind Zack aiming thrust for his chest. When they closed in he spun around as his mana blade severed their heads.

Two mystics launched a combination attack creating powerful ice magic to swirl around them freezing the ground. Multiple icicles formed behind them as a barrage of attacks ensued. Zack stuck his hand out firing a substantial fireball, and it managed to melt the majority of the icicles, but several got through.

They stuck into the ground around Zack forming a spell circle encasing him in ice. Aleister charged forward wanting to shatter him, but the ice was destroyed. Zack cut deeply across Alesiter's chest forcing him to retreat.

"I've thawed out from worse than that, and she wasn't even trying." Zack taunted flipping his hand up.

Four stones from the paved streets began rising around Zack, and with a few gestures from his finger spell circles appeared upon them. He extended his hand towards the mystics continuing their barrage.

The first stone became a small meteor soaring there direction. Its speed was impossible to avoid as they were engulfed in flames that erupted from the impact. Three of the stones had a beam launched between them forming a small triangle. They launched into the air spinning as they caused a bright light to signal above the city.

--

Before the signal went off Wade was outside the gate leading the city guards in an attack. They were using the same formation as before but were already retreating. The vampires began pouring down from the walls to ensure their capture. Not long after a bright light illuminated the sky, and the signal was clear.

The time for distractions was over, and the counter-attack began. A barrage of fire arrows came soaring from the trees striking the ground in various locations, and the earth between them cracked open creating a wall of flames incinerating a few groups charging in.

This halted the vampire's advances until the flames were extinguished. Even warriors came charging from the forest from each side joining the fight. The vampire quickly took notice of the large levels of mana entering the battlefield. The mystics took point as a young elf began walking forward to meet them.

His name is Silas and he was one of their upcoming mages. After the dragon attack, he took his training to another level. Cultivating in the mana-rich city allowed him to build a vast reserve, and with Athlan no longer being able to fight he would dedicate more time to guiding the others in using magic.

This was the first chance Silas had to put his training into action. These people needed saving just like they did, and he was dedicated to liberating the city. When fighting the dragon he had doubts for it was a mindless creature, but these were people committing wicked acts.

This time his resolve was clear as vast amounts of mana began to swirl around Silas. With each step, the ground would crumble beneath him, and it felt as if an earthquake was beginning. The mystics attempted to gather their mana to stop Silas from launching a large-scale attack, but it was already too late when the ground beneath them was crumbling.

They were forced to jump to avoid the earth opening beneath them, but one of the vampires failed to make it in time as the earth slammed shut around him with immense force as blood stained the soil. Silas was chanting in elven as daggers of earth began condensing and swirling behind him.

A mystic was about to launch a fireball as one impaled his chest. The speed behind the daggers was unexpected and caused him to lose focus as the spell broke. The mystic felt strange sensations spreading from the wound as he tried to rip the dagger out, but the tips of the dagger morphed into a barb wedging it into his chest.

Before it could be ripped free the body was rendered to stone. The statue fell forward as he crumbled into rubble. Two of the mystics launched a combined fire blast that roared towards Silas in retaliation.

One of the daggers flew into the dirt forming a massive wall of bedrock shielding their forces from the attack. Silas extended his hand forward as the wall attempted to crush those in front of him. The mystics intensified the blast as the two spells collided resulting in an explosion.

'Not done yet.' Silas closed his eyes focusing.

From the momentum of the wall, a barrage of smoldering rocks was falling, and Silas slammed his hands together as they launched forward. As Silas chanted the flames attached began to flare up resembling a small meteor shower rampaging their way.

The vampires saw the imminent danger and began dodging frantically. Following the attack were more daggers, and any that missed a target erupted spikes from the dirt. Their forces were being thrown into disarray from one elf, and they needed to rally soon to avoid extinction.

"Surround him already!"

Silas was now their main target, but elven warriors were already at his ready to get between them. Another set of arrows came raining from the treetops skewering the vampires. The elven archers were landing accurate headshots to those preparing magic.

Any magic that was shot at the warriors in retaliation was blocked with precision by walls of earth. Anyone attempting to gather magic towards the archers was rendered into statues by Sila's daggers. Silas was at the center of his clan, and he would allow no one to bring them harm.

"Vanguard push forward to assist and establish a new foothold. Divide the shield wall, and support their mages!" Wade ordered as he rushed forward.

The vampires began slowly moving back towards the wall and considered falling back. Vampires on the wall were watching closely as the smell of sulfur filled their nostrils. The ferals on the wall glanced around looking for the cause but saw nothing. With the battle raging on they shrugged it off continuing to survey the retreat.

A dark elf named Alisha was creeping out of a shadow on the ramparts behind a feral. They didn't even notice her body materializing as she slipped out from the wall behind him. Standing behind them she conjured a sword from green flames rapidly cutting them down as their bodies were rendered to ashes.

The vampires on the ground smelt scorched flesh and turned around to see a series of small flashes of green along the wall. The vampire was about to shout to the others as his head went flying. More dark elves began leaping from the shadows flanking the vampires fighting down below.

By the time they were aware of the combined attack, the casualties reached seven vampires. With the combined forces from the new enemies, the vampires were losing ground fast. Looking around they realized they were slowly being boxed in as the battle raged on.
