Building A New World

Every monster species has a powerful essence they draw from for strength. It comes from a primordial force dormant in their bodies that allowed their ancestors to rival the demon clans throughout the dark ages. Long ago they were completely controlled by these primordial instincts. They would fight among the other species over land or human mates. As time went on the demon clans began to feel threatened by the increased number of monster species appearing around the world. Worried they would one day be overwhelmed the demons took action. The demons began to oppress humanity and culled their numbers as much as possible. When the other species saw this they began forming factions to engage the demons. The result was a constant war waged among the lands. Humans scattered across the world trying to find places to avoid their extinction. Some humans found sanctuary in the elven cities hidden within the forest. Seeing them on the verge of extinction elves taught humans magic to protect themselves, but it wasn't enough. These battles plaguing the earth caused the angels to descend to protect humanity. As the demons, and angels clashed it almost broke the world. This led to a ceasefire, and a treaty was established. The world was rebuilt into a new landmass for the survivors that remained. This event came to be known as the first dark age and occurred over a thousand years ago. Since then three more dark ages have plagued the land. Due to this history, many humans consider these monster species to be evil, and it's why so many conflicts exist today. This story follows a young Nephilim named a century after the fourth dark age. After a tragic loss, Zack has had problems of opening up to others. Because of this, he's traveled alone for the past two years, but one day he meets a demon that changes everything. --- https://discord.gg/8zjAdmNtHB Has polls that involve the story, character list, the R-rated scenes marked, and a full-size pic of the cover.

Chapter 301

Zack flew towards the ogres as they attempted to knock boulders his way. Before the shrapnel could strike him it halted mid-air, and the pieces began to condense. The ogres were still coming to terms with it stopping when the attack launched.

The rubble was condensed into an orb as it caught flame rapidly striking the center of their formation. On impact, the orb broke apart launching fragments at the ogres. They rapidly ignited burning holes through anything in its path.

One of the ogres prepared for the attack by ignited his essence. When the aura flared his skin turned grey, and his horn rapidly grew. The pieces that struck his body caused him to shriek, but he managed to survive.

When an ogre ignited their essence their bodies took on a nature similar to tungsten. They could crush their foes with their bare hands, and steel weapons shatter against their skin. He only received some minor scorching along his skin, but the ogre expected to endure it without breaking a sweat.

The ogre was still trying to understand how a simple piece of rubble on fire could harm him. Zack took advantage of this and hurled his spear into his heart. Their bodies were impressive because the spear just barely pierced through its back.

Zack rapidly appeared behind the ogre yanking the spear through as he went onto the next ogre. While they battled Kaya was conjuring steps along the side of the canyon rushing to his side. Kaya sprang up gathering mana rapidly from her surroundings while aiming at an ogre.

"It's because of assholes like you that we cant enjoy our ride!" Kaya declared.

Once the arrow was refined, and flying through the air the arrowhead began rotating viciously. When it struck the ogre's chest blood spurted as his form rapidly reverted, and he collapsed. Before his body even hit the floor Kaya was refining the next shot.

The chief was enraged to see his forces being decimated by three women, and a human. They had fewer mouths to feed, and the horses were still blocked in below.

"Kill those bitches!" The chief ordered.

No longer having to hold back they all ignited their essence as the canyon was flooded with powerful auras. Attacking elves and humans in this form would leave little to eat in the aftermath. This is why the ogres used it as a last resort during hunting.

While a band charged Kaya a shiver shot down their spine as a gold light cast a shadow over their bodies. The ogres didn't even have time to turn around before one hit the floor. Zack stuck him in the spine leaving him paralyzed. He immediately spun as wings left deep cuts across their bodies forcing them to their knees.

"What did you call them?" Zack raised his hand as a gold light was being emitted from his palm.

A high pitch ringing echoed through the canyon causing everything to freeze in its tracks. A few of the residents recognized this sound for they have lived for centuries, and have witnessed the angels sieging the land.

They rapidly took shelter because a blast of this caliber could obliterate the canyon.

"Your friends are here, and they couldn't survive that so enough with the bluffing." The chief motioned his men.

A few were smart enough to stay put, but the rest pushed the uneasy feeling down stepping forward. Zack's wings unfurled as the canyon began to quake. A beam was rapidly condensing in his palm, and while the ogres were charging their bodies were obliterated.

The beam annihilated the warriors, and when it pierced the chief Zack clenched his hand refining it into an orb. It rapidly returned to Zack's hand, and as his palm slowly closed the ringing faded. All the ogres who saw this began fleeing, and Octavia prepared to give chase.

"Don't run off recklessly. The ogres wanted food, but others are laying in wait ready to do worse." Miu told Octavia.

Miu was expecting a retort, but Octavia sheathed her blade turning back. Octavia was still concerned about her other motives, but Miu was sincere about being their guide.

"Not too bad," Octavia said while passing the frozen ogres.

"Their bodies may be durable, but they still freeze. Maybe a little slower, but it works. Still, nothing compared to your magic." Miu glanced at the destruction she left.

"I envy you a little. Worrying about friendly fire all the time can get a little annoying." Octavia sighed.

"You could just take it easy," Zack told Octavia.

"Where's the fun in that?" Octavia smirked.

Zack created a platform from the side of the canyon. They stepped forward descending towards the wagon and cleared the road of the boulders. With the road clear, and horses calmed they continued their journey.

After the battle, Octavia was starting to ease up on Miu. So long as Miu didn't intervene in their alone time she would stay quiet. The canyon began to part, and two paths were circling up with some minor fortifications worn from the elements.

Miu advised them to go forward to get through quickly, but Zack wanted to investigate the situation. With the crystal, they would be able to find their route again when needed after all. They were traveling along the western border heading north, and on the other side of the mountains was Lucifer's domain.

The ringing didn't go unnoticed, and it caused Lucifer to wander out on his balcony. Zack's aura was hidden making it difficult to pinpoint, but there was no denying he was an angel. Knowing Zack's abilities come this put a smirk on his face.

'It seems your bastard has potential.' The smirk rapidly faded as Lucifer glared at the heavens.

"When I helped Castiel it was to spite those stuck-up pricks and make up for the kindness he showed me. I expected his bastard to end up like the rest, and even hoped for it. Imagine my reaction to finding out that bastard lived when so many others have died." Lucifer clenched his fist as his eyes turned red.

"You called me the favorite, but the seraphim were the ones groveling at your feet. You offer them special treatment but cast the rest of us down without hesitation...I stooped to their level, and you still let them die! Why?!"

Lucifer glanced around for any of the signs but saw nothing.

"Answer me!" Lucifer shouted as storms raged across his domain.

'If I rip the wings off your precious seraph will you still be silent?'

Zack looked off into the distance after getting an eerie feeling that made the hair on his neck stand.
