Chapter V. The Defense and Reward

A new mission and chance to improve my town.

"Let's try our best!"

When I looked at the demonic beasts again, some of the Beast were only a 100 meter away from the wall

When they reached the 40 Meter mark I shouted:

"FIRE!"

8 Spiritual canons shot their load out causing huge explosions when they landed, killing many different demons. Huge demons, big demons, small demons, nothing stood a chance.

While they were reloading, the beast were continuously running towards the wall.

The Archers started to shoot their arrows into the bodies of the demons.

Their were beast corpses lying everywhere.

But the wave seemed to never ending.

When one demon died another two demons replaced it.

I knew that even the town walls wouldn't hold on much long under the attacks of the demons.

The mountains of corpses let the others crawl up the wall and the infantry had to defend against them while the archers still shot down the demons in front of the wall.

Even Zhang Yu and Zhang Yi were pushed back by the amount of demonic beasts that came.

This continued for about 4 hours. 3 of the 9 canons had already been destroyed and about 10% of my soldiers had died in the battle.

"Ahh!"

Some of the beasts had made it into the town but were being slaughtered by my cavalry.

I could finally see the end of the beast wave, as I stood outside the camp wich had been previously been built as station for the army.

When I returned and sat down on a huge chair. One of the soldiers ran into the tent.

"Your Majesty! The materials needed for the canons are getting dim and we don't have enough in storage anymore."

"Shit! I didn't think, it would use up all of the resources.Take out the leftovers and try to use them carefully."

Inside the main tent was a huge wooden table, on it where the different positions of my soldiers and the movements of the demons.

Next to me were Zhang Yu and Zhang Yi, who had returned from killing the demons who had broken through the defensive wall. The purple blood of the demons was all over the silver glancing armor.

I was planning a defense move to reduce our losses, the more the better.

But I knew, the most of the real battle was already at the end. Only some demons were left and were cleaned up by the army.

When I fell down on the chair because I was tired of the battle, my well known screen appeared infront of me.

So many rewards! That was the first time, that I had received so much for only one quest.

The troops were needed for the protection of the town, the Gold for trading and buying tools and more.

And the development plans were to further develop the town and improve its safety.

Maybe more people would move here, if they knew of the lifestyle and security.

"Zhang Yu, Zhang Yi?"

"Yes, your majesty?"

"We will go to the StoneHeart City in one week, the merchant city. We need to make some purchases and maybe strengthening the bound between our town and the merchants."

One Week. That was enough to complete and rebuild everything that was destroyed because of the attack.

When I walked around the village, I saw the villagers thanking the soldiers for protecting them. It was wholesome. Soldiers were dragging some corpses of the dead and burying them.

When I arrived at my own house, wich was the mayors house, I took out the development plan and looked at the painted drawings on the paper.

"Let's first modify this."

I started with the outer walls. The walls I made were about 4 meter thick and had small openings in them, where archers could shoot out without showing much of their body.

Then the towers. On one side the towers were connected with the main building. The other towers were separate buildings. I made them usable for the canons.

The main building had one main hall, 3 bedrooms, one huge kitchen, one long room with a very big table for dining or talking about strategy.

Also one huge storage room to hide and store materials. That was all I thought of for now so I decided to safe it as it was.

Mh let's place it right there where the mayors house was, the house was located on a small hill so the enemy had to first climb up before reaching the main building.

Also it was located in the middle of the town and so resembled the strength and power of myself, their lord.

After placing the castle, their were some rumors about me using dark magic, but these were easily dealt with by my soldiers.

This town started to really resemble a strong city.

The only things left, were people and merchants. But that would come with the time.

Only 4 days later, most of the walls and houses had already been repaired and over 80% of the demonic beasts corpses were already put in storage for the merchant.

Demonic Beasts leather or the spiritual cores inside of them, were luxury good for most people and I could at least earn another 2000 to 3000 gold for the them, if I sold them to the right merchant.

Some should also be left here for own use and experiments.

With the new soldiers and canons, wich were created the town wall looked even more majestic.

"Everyone has risen a level?" I was now a

4th Stage Cultivator. In only 5 months had I made so much progress.

"The demonic wave really brought a fortune."

I said leisurely as I walked from one of the watchtowers to another to observe the work of the soldiers.

The purple demon blood was mixed with my soldiers red blood everywhere.

To clean this, it would at least take a week if not more.

"Zhang Yu, prepare the carriage and anything needed for our journey, we will go to StoneHeart City tomorrow morning."

I said as I saw Zhang Yu running towards me.

"Yes, your majesty!"
