Overcoming the Yang, Yin and Will defenses:
Each skill is responsible for several actions, now we will consider only skill checks for overcoming Yang, Yin and Human (animal, etc.) defenses.
Let's take the Knowledge skill as an example. It is intended, among other things, to assess the strength of the observed object.
How it happens: the skill, within the range of Aki's spatial genjutsu, affects a shinobi who in turn has a defense, in the case of his body and mind evaluation, a test to overcome Stamina (Yang defense) and Intelligence (Yin defense). Our imaginary shinobi has these values of 150% (Yang Defense) and 110% (Int Defense).
But! A person can't always be fully prepared for the unexpected, and therefore his characteristics don't always work to their maximum (Exception check when the chakra hearth is active, in which case all characteristics work to their maximum). Our shinobi is tired, he trained hard today and is hungry: his Stamina defense is at 45%. A Knowledge check is made, which has a value of 50% - Success.
Half of the path is passed, now the same test for overcoming the Intellect defense is carried out. In our example, the shinobi is stupid, but now he is trying to solve an unknown riddle, in other words, he is actively thinking, thus he is actively producing Yin, which gives the Intellect defense, and it is equal to 90%. A check is made against Knowledge with 50% - Fail. The skill fails.
