Stacy and Devine never realized that so many hours had passed. This was because they enjoyed having so many different conversations together.
After she ate, he cleared up the rest of the unfinished food as most of what he brought was untouched, then they continued their talk.
"Devine," she asked him. "Have you ever been to the human world?"
"Why do you ask that?"
She shrugged, "earlier, you spoke about something, trying to relate it to my world. You sounded so familiar with what you were saying, like you've lived there before."
He smirked, putting both his hands up in surrender. He honestly never expected her to figure out things so quickly.
"Okay, you caught me."
She snapped her fingers, "I knew it."
"I've been there a number of times, I've even stirred up trouble a couple of times, possessing some humans and animals along the way," he laughed a bit at the memory, "unlike my brother, the human world can't handle someone like me, as I was a rebel. But because of your smartness, you're the only one I'm telling about this experience, even my parents don't know what I've been up to."
"I see. It must have been quite an adventure for you"
"Yeah. It was fun, but I don't go there anymore as I am more focused on my duties here in the clan house. I'm taking care of the Daivie army now. I do wish my efforts were more recognized though. Even though I'm the one who's always around, my father never pays attention to me. He always preferred Charlie because he's the first son and he wants him to inherit the throne."
Stacy didn't know when their conversation trailed off to such personal matters. She wanted to mind her business, but also didn't want to seem nonchalant about the way Devine had opened up to her just like that. She then remembered the day Charlie first told her about the demon world, recalling what he had said to her regarding his decision not to rule.
"But Charlie doesn't want that."
Devine nodded, "I know that too, he and dad had fought so many times because of it, but he stood by his reasons for not wanting it. Maybe he just wants a simpler life or something. I think he's just being selfish, the Daivie leadership is a responsibility and an obligation, it should not be taken for granted."
"Hmm. You sound like you would be more willing to rule than he is."
"Honesty, Stacy, I won't hide it. I am, but dad will never hear the end of it. From our ancestral lineage, it's always been the first son from after the war between heaven and hell.
"It even took a lot of persuasion from the circle for dad to give me this position. I know he will never hand me the throne to me even with my willingness. He never even trusted me with temporary leadership, putting Hiva, a non-royal in charge instead.
"When I saw the way he treats me regarding these matters, I didn't push it any longer. I would even be so happy for my brother if he decided to rule. He would make a good Daivie leader."
Just then, they heard a knock on the door. Even though he was the one she was expecting, Stacy knew it wasn't Charlie. If not, why would he be knocking on the door of his own room?
Stacy was right, as when Devine answered, it was one of the demons she saw on the ritual ground walk in, she was the female demon who stood beside the elder that wanted to execute her.
"Good evening, sire," she greeted Devine.
"Good evening, Lucy. What is it?"
"I'm sorry to disturb you sire, but I thought you would have observed that it was past time for patrol."
When Devine stared at the old ticking clock hanging on the wall, he gasped. "Shit!"
He'd been so caught up in the talks with Stacy that when the time came for night patrol with the guards, he'd forgotten what to do. Thank Hades for Lucy who noticed his absence on time and came to look for him. He didn't want to mess up in this new position of his, not even once, so his dad wouldn't find a reason to kick him out.
"Thank you so much, Lucy," Devine said as he stood up, turning to Stacy, "I'm sorry dear, but I have to leave you alone now."
Stacy nodded, "of course, you can go. I understand."
"It was nice meeting you, Stacy. You're such a lovely person. Charlie is really lucky to have chosen someone as sweet as you."
She didn't know what to say in response to that, so she just smiled.
"I'll come here to see you tomorrow. You'll be around then, right?"
She nodded, "hopefully, yes."
"Okay then, have a good night, my lady," he then bid her goodbye with a small kiss on the back of her palm.
Upon Devine's gesture, Stacy could have sworn she saw a spiteful glare on Lucy's face for a second, or maybe she was just seeing things, because the next second, the glare was gone.
"Good night, Devine. Thank you so much for tonight."
The door closed and then she was left in the room, all alone.
Stacy remained there, waiting for Charlie. She got bored after staying still for a few minutes, and so decided to look around the room for anything that would keep her mind busy.
The first place that caught her attention was the small library that was connected to his room. She walked in, as she was curious to see the kind of books that Charlie collected. Funny enough, apart from the books, other things called her attention, including a group of photo frames that were neatly arranged on one of the tables.
She took a look at some of them.
One of the ones she really admired was the one of charlie when he was still a young demon, it was captioned, "100 years old." The age compared to his small size was what made her chuckle, as little Charlie would have already been a great grandpa in the human world at such age.
The smile on his face was so adorable, she noticed that Lillian did a good job by bringing so much happiness to her family.
Just then, Charlie stepped into the room. Upon noticing him, she tried to hide the picture frame she was holding but too late, he had already seen them with her.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" He folded his arms as he took slow steps towards her.
Unsure of what he might think of her snooping around, she began to stutter. "I-I'm sorry. I, I just saw them and I…"
"It's ok," Charlie said as he took them from her. "Remind me to burn these later, will you?" he continued as he placed them back on the table and they both laughed, it made her forget the little tension she felt about getting caught a few seconds ago.
Charlie then came closer to her, close enough until they felt their breaths upon each others faces, she felt the wetness returning to her panties. Suddenly the room was filled with silence as they both caught each others gaze, and for the second time that night, he leaned in to kiss her.
