Chapter 12

"And yet, you expect me to do something similar; something you do not have the guts to do."

"It's entirely different, mom, and you know it is. I would have helped Stacy so much if it didn't involve me having to take over the throne, but since it does, there is nothing I can do about that. That's why I need you. Please, don't say no. I don't know who else I can entrust her with."

"You are asking for a lot, Charlie. You know I don't take in servants anyhow."

"I know, but please, mom. I am begging to, just this once. You can state your condition, anything, and I will ensure to do it for you. Just don't turn Stacy away."

"A condition, eh?" Lillian wondered why her mind didn't even go there before.

Charlie sighed, "yes. I will do anything for you to take Stacy in for me. At least it will show how much I'm willing to help her without doing the things I am reluctant about."

"Okay, fine. I will help you."

Charlie almost jumped. "Yes!Thank you. I love you so much, mom."

"I love you too darling, but hold your horses first, I haven't stated my condition yet."

"Oh, right." Charlie almost forgot about that. "What do you want?"

"I want you and your father to have a reconciliation tonight."

"No way."

"Are you forgetting something? Didn't you mention just now that you would do anything for me to take in Stacy?"

"Anything apart from that. You know that apologizing to him is the last thing I'll do."

"Well, sorry buddy. That's the only thing I'm willing to accept. I am tired of my husband and son always being apart. And besides, I never said you should go apologize to him, I know that Luther should also take part in the blame for what happened between you too, but I'm not asking any of you to apologize. I just want you both to have a compromise and settle your differences once and for all."

No matter how Lillian made it sound, Charlie didn't feel any better about what she wanted him to do, but still, there was no other option. He almost cursed himself then for offering her a condition in the first place.

"Okay, fine. I will try."

"Thank you."

"But can't it be some other time? I mean, tonight is too sudden, and I didn't prepare myself for saying anything to say to him before I came here."

"There's never a perfect time for anything, Charlie. The future is uncertain and you might not have this chance again. I don't want to carry on longer than it already has. Please, I just want my family to love each other just as much as I love them."

"What if he doesn't want that? What if he doesn't want a compromise unless I choose to do what he says?"

"You might not believe what I'm about to say Charlie, but your father values his family so much, even more than the monarchy. We might not achieve full acceptance from him tonight, but just give him some time. He will come around, and he will learn to still love you, no matter what path in your demon life you choose to follow."

"He did say something similar to that during his speech."

"See? It's only a matter of time, my love. I don't believe that there is any form of difference that can't be solved."

"I don't know. It's not going to be easy trying to have a dialogue with him after such a long time, mom."

"You don't have to do it on your own, that's why I'll be there. I promise to talk to him first to calm him a bit; you know he's still upset about the throne thing."

"I don't know why he had to be like this. Why can't he be more human, like you?"

"You know the demon and the human world aren't the same, honey. We've been living in hell since you left and trust me, I've met a whole lot of demon leaders that are even worse than your father, just give him time, he'll come around."

Charlie sighed.

By this time, Stacy had already entered the balcony along with the servant Lillian had assigned to take her around.

"We are done with the tour, milady," the servant bowed.

After Lillian dismissed her, she offered Stacy a seat.

"How did it go, my dear?" She asked her.

"It was wonderful," Stacy answered. "I've never seen a more beautiful place in my life."

"I am glad you like it. I remember how it was for me when I first walked through a portal, so I know how it must feel for you, so magical!"

"That just explained it," Stacy grinned.

Charlie then stood up, "sorry to interrupt, but I have to take Stacy back home before anyone starts looking for her. I'll come back to talk to dad tonight after I drop her off."

Lillian frowned. "Taking her away so soon? But I'm sure one night here wouldn't hurt right? Look at how much she loves it here; there'll be so much more for her to see by tomorrow."

"I don't know about that. I didn't mention anything about spending the night to Stacy before I brought her here."

Lillian then turned to her, "Stacy, I know you didn't plan this, but there's more than enough room for you here. What do you say about spending the night here? I would love to host you for the first time."

Like Charlie said, Stacy really hadn't planned on spending the night here, and she didn't want to be gone for so long that Bet, Sophia and probably the neighbors would start looking around for her. But her love for this new found world made her reason that a night or two here wouldn't hurt at all. In fact, she loved to see more of this magical world and all it had to offer. She was also getting so comfortable around this her new, soon-to-be master. She needed to be, as she would be serving her for the next 1000 years.

So, rather than object, she nodded and said, "yes."

After all, what did she have to lose?
