Time to Kill

After spending about an hour at the Café and enjoying the company of the Cats, Kita settled his bill and came out of the Café.

That's when an announcement came that the ship was about to depart the station and would be heading towards the nearest Lagrange point. Hearing the announcement, Kita looked at the time. It was almost noon. Well, He didn't have much to do anyway. So he went on to take a stroll on around the city.

There was a huge park in the middle of the city. There was also a lake like body of water. As Kita paid a fee and entered the Park, he could see couples walk by, and enjoying the moment.

This made him feel a bit lonely as his thoughts wandered off to the Time He and Helen would go on dates during their University days.

Kita was somewhat of a social recluse during his University years. That made him not have too many friends. But the ones he had tended to be like him. After he met Helen, he began to somewhat get out of the habit of locking himself away inside his dorm room. He began to walk around more, and spend more time with Helen.

One time, Helen insisted that he took her to a park that was nearby their university. It was a famous spot for couples to gather during and after class. Helen wanted to go there with him after their class was over. As Kita couldn't refuse her, He decided to go there with her.

When they reached there, he could see a lot of couples gathered around. Someone once said that University was where Love bloomed, And watching the scene before him, Kita believed at least some of that to be true.

"Let's go there, There's a free seat near the Lake.", Helen dragged him to the open bench near the Lake. As they both sat down, Helen leaned her head over his shoulders. They enjoyed each other's company while watching the serene beauty of the lake. There were a few waterfowls around the lake. Both of them enjoyed watching them swim on the water.

That was when they were disturbed by a Robot trying to sell different snack items to the Park visitors. It was a pretty common occurrence and the Robot was fully capable of selling things on it's own.

"WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUY SOMETHING? HERE'S A SELECTION OF SNACKS AVAILABLE", the Bot said in a robotic voice.

"Ooh, I'll take this one." Helen ordered a pack of fruit leather. She liked that stuff for some reason. Kita not as much.

Kita paid for the Fruit leather and the Bot went away. He turned to look at Helen who was busy trying to open up the bundled leathers.

As she managed to open up a piece she tore it in half and offered one half of it to Kita.

Kita looked at the leather for a moment before giving Helen a look that said he didn't want it.

But That caused her to pout.

"Try it it's really good. Here open up your mouth." She insisted.

Kita finally gave in and ate the piece of fruit leather. It wasn't as bad as he remembered. Maybe it was just the placebo effect of Helen Feeding it to him. Kita thought inwardly.

As they enjoyed their evening sitting on the bench and doing a few other activities, their park date had come to an end.

As they were about to leave the park, they came across one of Helen's friends. Who was also there with her Boyfriend.

"Hey, Helen. What are you doing here? Who's this?", The girl said while looking at Kita. She sized him up from head to toe.

"Hey, Cristine, Meet Kita. He's my boyfriend." Helen introduced him to her friend.

"Kita, Meet Cristine, She used to be my roommate in the dorm. But she moved out after some time."

"Ah. I see." Cristine said in a lackluster voice.

"Oh, I almost forgot, meet Jacob, He's also my boyfriend." Cristine introduced her boyfriend to everyone.

After the initial greeting there was an awkward silence. Nobody really knew what they wanted to talk about.

"We shall be going first. We have somewhere to be.", Cristine said as she and Jacob left.

After getting away from them, Helen and Kita went back to their campus and to each their own dorms. It was one of the earliest memories he had with Helen. For some reason, although not really significant, this one stuck with him after all these years.

Now seeing all the couples around, he remembered it. As he thought back all those beautiful moments he shared with Helen, He began to tear up. He took a seat and began to reminisce about the old days where things where much more simple.

As he sat there, a Robot came to sell some snacks.

Kita looked at the Bot before buying a pack of Fruit leather.

As he opened it up and put a small piece in his mouth, He couldn't match the taste to his memories.

"It did indeed tasted better when you fed it to me." Kita said as he threw his head down as he couldn't control his tears.

He missed her.

He missed her soo damn bad.

He wished she was with him here.

He would trade away the world if he could get her back.

But that wasn't possible.

She was gone.

She was taken from him.

Kita couldn't calm down no matter how much he tried.

His internal emotions were in turmoil.

He didn't really knew what to do.

So, he just sat there as he thought about Helen.

After a while, Kita looked up at the sound of a purr.

A cat had come near him and was watching him.

"Hey."

"Meow."

"You want it?", Kita offered some Fruit leather.

The cat took it from his hands and ran away.

Kita watched it go away.

This little interaction finally helped him calm down a bit.

Kita got up to leave the Park. Staying there would only remind him more of Helen. so to take his mind off, he decided to go find something to eat.

It would take him 3 Weeks to reach the Krister system. So he had plenty of time to kill. And there were enough things to do while aboard the Star Farer.
