Boruto traveled on foot, it was because one of the few things he enjoyed apart from training like a madman was, of course, Nature.
His heart grew captivated by the greenery, the rays of sunshine adding a tint of yellow to bright green leaves only made it more breathtaking.
As he was enjoying the fresh air, his eyes suddenly twitched, in front of him stood several men, armed with weapons and seemed to be very muscular.
"Hold it!"
Boruto sighed as Fate's End manifested into Boruto's hand, he halted his steps and glanced and his blade.
Yeah, I forgot to mention that Boruto worked on two seals for his sword, one for summoning it, and the other for...
"What the hell!? Why is his weapon growing in size?!"
The other for extending his blade's length.
Fate's End extended until it turned into a fearsome odachi, in the eyes of the thugs, the blade was suddenly shrouded in blazing fire, emitting heat that made them gulp for water.
"R-Run! It's a Shinobi!"
Boruto rarely wore the leaf headband, which made people presume he was just another ordinary kid.
Boruto slowly raised his blade and sent a horizontal slash, which produced a crescent made of pure, bright red fire travel through the air to behead all 12 men who were trying to run away.
Fate's End vanished from Boruto's hand as he picked up his pace again. Soon, after an hour of traveling, he was at the entrance of Takayama Village.
Boruto walked inside the Village, the land looked like it hadn't seen rain in a million years and completely lacked any kind of vegetation.
'It's a miracle a village is even able to run in this drought place'
People often peeked through their windows to glance at Boruto, it wasn't every day an outsider would come to their village.
Boruto's eyes soon fell on a luxurious house, vastly different from the normal, cranky houses of Takayama village.
He walked toward the house, halfway through, the people who were peeking at him were whispering something.
He slightly rose his senses to hear what they were talking about.
"This child is doomed, he's walking right into the devil's nest!"
"Such a pity to see a young kid being manipulated by the devil! Sigh, let us pray for his soul to find peace in the afterlife"
"Oh no! The devil is so cruel! Not even leaving childrens alone, what a monster!"
Boruto raised a brow, clearly stupified by such statements. His gaze loomed over the wooden house before him, trying to pick out anything amiss.
But, there were none. He could not find anything suspicious about the place. Shaking his, he stepped inside after removing his shoes.
A creak followed as he slid the entrance, he walked inside and observed the hall. There were two men, a gorgeous woman, and an old lady.
The two men raised their weapons--spears--at Boruto after noticing him. The ladies, however, did not give him the slightest of attention.
Boruto went for his pockets and pulled his headband, the men withdrew their weapons after inspecting the symbol carved on the metal.
"You must be the Leaf Shinobi who will escort the lady, I presume?"
Boruto nodded his head in response, his gaze flashing past the woman who just let out a slight chuckle.
The old lady's wrinkled face met Boruto's, she scoffed.
"Does the leaf not respect the high lady's authority? Hmph, sending out kids for such a significant task"
Displeasure was written all over her face. Boruto did not heed her words any reaction, he simply gazed at the high lady.
"When do we depart?"
A shiver ran down the people present inside the hall as his words echoed inside their heads, a bone-chilling cold engulfed the luxurious room.
For the first time after his arrival, the beautiful lady looked at him.
"Today, midnight"
She spoke. Boruto exited the building and went out to gather some information about all this 'devil' talk.
The moment he left the room, warmth evaded and brought comfort to the hall. The men sighed as they relaxed.
"Phew~ What was that?"
The first man spoke, the other guy paused for a moment before replying with a grim tone.
"....I don't know, it was like we were transported to the north... So cold"
He shuddered as he recalled the young Shinobi's voice, there was something in that tone of his... Something... Vile?.
Shaking his head, he dispersed those unsettling thoughts and focused on the high lday.
"Master, why midnight? You know this nation is dangerous, I don't think that kid has the strength to protect us o--"
The high lady raised her hands, gesturing him to shut his mouth. The man obeyed and stayed quiet.
Her sharp gaze met his, he was once again reminded why she was bestowed as the high lady.
"Follow what I desire, or you may leave this instant"
"Yes, Master"
Fearing not to anger her, the man bowed and stood on his initial place. The old woman, meanwhile, was still thinking about the kid.
'That kid... He didn't succumb to the high lady's beauty or voice... Who is he?'
