The Answer And Iris's Backstory

I walked to the castle and knocked on the door of the King's chamber. He said "Come in" and I did what he was told. He was wearing the same dress as before.

He then said "Mr Adair, I am sorry that you have lost many people due to Undead. I hope you forgive us for not noticing it earlier. I will come straight to the point you and your students can become a mage and fight to kill the magical beings that are killing people or you can continue your old life but we will wipe out everything you know about this place and the magic you saw as no one who does not have magic should know about this as they can be used to find this place. Either way, you have a choice. I am not forcing you or your students to become a mage. You and your students can tell your answer tomorrow."

I said "Okay, let me discuss this with my students. Before I go, you didn't give your name."

He looked a bit embarrassed and said "Oh, I forgot. My name is Alexander Treyes."

I left the chamber after talking a bit with the King. I then met up with students. Zack then said, "Have you seen any other magical being other than the Phoenix?"

Lily then replied, "I saw 3 Griffons, 5 Unicorns and a Pegasus."

Noah then said, "I met some water sprites and nymphs."

I then said "I met all of the beings you said. Now let's discuss if we are becoming a mage or not. I have to give the answer to the king tomorrow."

Noah said "I am fine with being a mage. I can't do anything other than that. The place where I got my part-time job was destroyed and everything I own is destroyed. I can't do anything other than be a mage to survive."

Zack said "I kind of said that I want to become because of that moment. After thinking about everything. I decided I will go and live with my parents and start a new life there."

Lily said "I want to become a mage. I want to get revenge. The Undead killed my whole family."

I then said after hearing all their answers "I will tell this to the king tomorrow. Zack since you decided not to be a mage. Everything you know about magic and this place will be wiped out of your mind. I hope you can prepare for that. I will join you two to become a mage. Say your goodbyes as Zack will be not here from tomorrow. Anyway, it's getting late. Get some sleep as tomorrow is going to be a long day."

After saying this word I got out of the room and went to my guest room. Then I ate dinner that was given to me. I then read some books about magic and slept.

The next day I woke up, did my morning routine, ate my breakfast and explored. This time I saw more magical beings and greeted them. When I returned, Zack had gotten ready to go. I then quickly took a shower and dressed up to go and meet the king.

I asked some questions to confirm that Zack was not going to be a mage. He answered that he was afraid to die and he doesn't want to lose his life because of unwanted danger.

I respected his choice and met the king. The King then asked, "So what is your answer, Mr Adair?"

I replied, "Me, Noah and Lily are going to be a mage and Zack is going to go back to his old life."

The King looked at Zack and nodded. He then asked Zack "Are you prepared to have your memory wiped". Zack took a huge breath and said "Yes. Yes, I am."

The King then asked the place Zack wanted to be left at and Zack replied that he wanted to be left at his parent's house.

The King then called his Phoenix and suddenly a brown-haired person flashed in front of us. He then asked Zack "Are you ready?". Zack replied "Yes".

Then the person said "Memory Magic Magical Memory." We could see every memory Zack saw that is related to magic. Then the person said "Memory Magic Destroy". Every Memory then burst into flames as Zack cried out in pain. Then the person said "Memory Magic Recreation. We could see him creating memories for Zack to make him believe what he was doing. Then he took Zack and opened a portal to his parent's house and dropped him there. Then he said "Memory Magic Start''.

Then I could see Zack slowly waking up and confused. Then the memories started coming and the portal closed.

The King then said "You three will unlock your magic tomorrow. We have to prepare the crystal as you do not have magic in your body like Iris."

I nodded and left. I then met Iris while I was going back to my room. Since she was free I asked her my doubts about this place. She was kind enough to answer all of my questions. I learnt that this place takes USD as their main currency. I also learnt many other things like there are people who discovered magic in their normal life and they are either recruited to become a mage or had their memory wiped like Zack. Their magic will be sealed as they may again unlock it.

After clearing my doubts Iris and I talked about how we lived before she had magic. I learnt that she was a normal girl living her normal life but suddenly one day she could breathe fire. After an hour of her doing magic. 3 Mages came out of the portal and took her to the King. There she was given the same choice. She wasn't worried about anything and became a mage. Since she was an orphan it was easy to become a mage.

She then practiced magic every day until she became one of the strongest mages in Utopia.
