After the attacks,NASA got a hint that their transport vehicle was hijacked and the tech along with the gas was missing.

The results of the experiments confirmed that the zombified nature was caused by the gas and it was named the Beta gas hence the outbreak The Beta Virus and all affected victims were called Beta Beasts and needed to be killed if they wanted to ensure the safety of the world.
