I sniffed, wiping the remaining tears drying up on my cheeks as I rushed downstairs.
"Fuck I'm so exhausted, that hospital will kill me" I heard my mom and I slowed down in my steps. I heard a chuckle which I knew was from Vanessa.
"Oh come on sis, I know you're stronger than that" she mused.
"Really? You wanna say that? Look at the bags under my eyes and tell me if I don't look like a nightmare before Christmas"
A rumble of laughter broke through and I knew it came from both of them this time. I was finally down the stairs, but I remained there watching their interaction in the living room.
