Truth

I groaned, stirring awake, the sound of a beeping machine filled my ears, the hard smell of drugs covered my nose, how I hate that smell! I couldn't feel any pain, I felt so light and relaxed but I couldn't move my hand, I felt like a pillow was on it or something, but at least it didn't hurt anymore.

My eyes leisurely opened, everything in my vision was blurry but I could tell someone was before me, who helped me put on my glasses.

"Hey sweetie"

"M-Mom?" my voice was hoarse. I could barely recognize it. "How-" I tried to speak again but then I gulped, my throat felt so dry.

"Easy okay," my mom said with a sweet smile. "Vanessa called me the moment you were hospitalized" she began before her sad eyes trailed my body. "You must have been so scared"

Does she know what truly happened? "It must have been so awful, really a bear attack? The mountains here have always been so safe and yet…" she sighed.

"What did you hear?" I asked in a low tone.
