Dace didn't come back last night and I barely slept a wink. I called but his line didn't connect, was everything okay? He looked so tense after he was mind linked. I was worried and just hoped he was okay. Maybe I should try Emilia's line.
I saw a glimpse of hope when her phone rang but that died when she didn't pick up. Something was wrong. I could feel it and it got me up my toes so I kept trying it.
"Come on, pick up Emilia" I mumbled but it was a futile attempt. She didn't answer her damn phone. "Great!"
"You good?" Owen asked me and I turned to him.
"I'm good" I mumbled watching as he made a turn toward the next block. It was after school, so I asked Owen to drive me to the covenstead, I still had some research to do.
"You don't look good," he said. "Is your beast boyfriend not picking?"
I rolled my eyes. "Would it kill you to leave the beast part out? It sounds offensive"
