Uninvited Guest

The fear that enveloped the room did not stop the murmurs of the men and women who were called to witness the arrival of someone they did not expect to show himself. 

It was the usual party where only family members were invited and a few well-trusted men and women who were working under them. They were in the vast chamber room in one of Karl's mansions. Beautiful men and women were lounging on the velvet couch, partially hidden by the red velvet curtains, hung heavily on the walls. The candles on the chandelier cast shadows on the room, giving off a soft glow, and creating a romantic atmosphere. 

However, there was nothing romantic in the room even before the uninvited man appeared. The feast that was happening in the chamber was nothing but business meetings, catching up with family members that lived far and afar, updating each and every one of what they were doing, making sure that no one was treading on someone's toes and territories.
