I Vist My Pycho Friend In The Hospital (Jade)

The gravel hurt my feet beneath me, but my mind was so far away I barely noticed. I only had two texts from my dad.

Hey gotta tell me when you leave...... Gonna be home late again Are you okay?

I texted him back that I was sorry and that I was on my way home. I knew he wouldn't respond for a few hours.

I made my home ready to change into some sensible clothes. The apartment was empty when I came home to no surprise at all.

I went to my room and changed into some yoga pants and a t-shirt. I tied my hair up and shuffled my feet into some shoes.

I called the hospital as I raided the pantry for food.

"This is Seattle Medical Center, Melissa speaking, how may I help you?" a woman answered.

"Hi, I have a friend that was admitted the other night, Caleb Willin. I was just wondering if friends were open to visitation yet?"

I bite into a granola bar as I heard her type into her computer.

"Mhmm, I don't see any restrictions... Yes, visitation is open to everybody,"

"Thank you," I smiled and I hung up the phone.

I had an hour until I had to be back at magic manor (what else car we gonna call it?). I must have been asleep for hours if it was almost five, I thought as I stuffed the dress into a garbage bag to give back to Jack and Mayline.

I hopped into a taxi and was at the hospital in less than ten minutes. I paid the driver and ran into the medical building. There was a nurse at the desk.

"Caleb Willin?" I asked a little rushed.

My stomach was starting to twist up. I had no idea how he was going to look like. What if his parents are there? What am I going to tell him, do they know I was with him?

"224," she answered monotoned.

I took off to the room, but once I got to the room I was more hesitant. I slowly turned the handle and went into the room. As soon as I walked in I could hear the beeping of machines. My face fell as I took him in. He had a deep colored bruise on his head were he was knocked into his coma. He had light marks around where he was choked.

"They found him in the street, they think it was a mugging gone wrong. The doctors say he fought back,"

I turned around to face a distraught Mrs. Willin. I gave her a hug, her tears bled into my shirt.

"How long until he wakes up," I asked pulling away.

"They don't know exactly, they think two weeks maybe more,"

I didn't know what to say so I just nodded.

"I didn't even know he was gone. I woke up this morning from a call from the police,"

I gulped as I thought about how he picked me up last night, he was so energized, ready to take on the world.

"I'm glad that you came to visit him. The doctors say that he can hear us. I keep telling him stories that he liked as a kid or play the music that he likes. Anything to make him want to wake up,"

The voice her voice shook with fear and sadness made me want to cry with her, but I had shed enough tears for today, any more and my face would permanently be red and puffy.

My heart bled for her. I wanted to help her, I'm a witch I should be able to help her, help him. I'd have to ask Jack and Mayline about it.

"Maybe what he really needs is to talk with his best friend, I'll give you two some space,"

Mrs. Willin turned and left the room, shutting the door behind her.

I took in a shaky breath and slowly looked over to Caleb, there was a chair next to his bed. I slowly moved it and sat down.

Caleb was motionless, his eyes didn't flutter, his breathing didn't change, his skin didn't react when I took his huge hand and wrapped my small one around it.

"Oh, Caleb." I whispered not able to hold back my tears like I wanted to, they slid freely down my cheeks.

"How did we get here? I told you my idea of Netflix and ice cream was better. It would have been a lot safer," I smiled, trying to talk like we normally do- or did- before he was in a coma and before I knew about his extracurricular activities. Maybe a comatose person was the only person I could speak to now.

"There's so much I want to tell you, you'd freak. I mean I found my family, my blood family. That girl, Hale, she's my sister. She's the one who put you in here," My voice went down to a dark whisper. My mood changed to somber to downright depressed. "She says you poisoned her, before the match. So that you could win. I don't want to believe her but-"

I stopped as my mind flashed back to last night and the way he enjoy'd the way he hurt people, the smile that he gave me.

I shivered at the thought and released his hand.

"But last night, the look in your eyes... I don't know what to think."

My sad thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of my cellphone.

I rushed to fish it out of my pocket and looked at the caller ID, Katie.

She started talking before I could even say hello.

"Where are you? Your shift started an hour ago!"

My mouth gaped. Shit. I totally forgot about work.

"Oh erm, something came up. I'm not coming in, sorry,"

"Yeah- Okay, bye,"

She hung up and I grimaced. That sucked.

"Hi there darling, don't mind me I just need to check his vitals,"

I glanced over my shoulder to see a woman my mom's age, in Disney scrubs.

"Oh I'm sorry," I murmured, wiping the tear out of my eyes.

She pulled a small packet of Kleenex from her pocket.

"Thank you," I croaked out as she handed them to me.

She chatted to me as she wrote things down from the monitor.

"I have a son around his age, yours too I guess. His birthday was yesterday, and I was here - working. I haven't been able to reach him all morning. When he was brought in I was so scared it was him, selfish, I know. He texted me just a few minutes ago."

My heart raced, what are the odds?

"Your son, what's his name?"

"Ryker, Ryker Griffin. Do you go to school with him?"

I shook my head silently.

This is Ryker's mom, my brother's mom. Should I introduce my self? Or should I wait for Rkyker to introduce me? Should I tell her that he's safe I'd I was going to see him soon?

I opened my mouth to speak but she beat me to it.

"That's all I need, I'll be back in a few hours,"

"Oh wait! Your son, Is he coming here?"

She shook her head and smiled.

"I doubt it. If he's not drawing he's sleeping,"

I returned her smile.

"It was nice to meet you, take care,"

She left the room and the door shut.

I looked back to Caleb and frowned.

I looked at the time to see I had twenty minutes till five.

I stood up and squeezed his hand as a goodbye. I couldn't think of anything else.

Ms.Willin was just outside, she stood straighter when she saw me.

"Leaving already?"

"I've got to get to work," I lied.

She drew me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around her, trying hard not to think about how many secrets I was now hiding and how easily I was lying.

Mrs. Willin released me and we said our goodbyes.

I was thinking about how to get back to the manor when I slammed into something. I was on the floor before I knew it, the contents of my purse were spilled everywhere.

"I'm so sorry, let me help," A male's voice apologized. I didn't pay attention as I scrambled to shove everything back in. Once I thought I got it all I stood back up.

"Thanks, sorry," I rushed out as I headed for the exit.

Fifteen minutes.
