Blade and Miracle

A false prophecy, a conspicuous birth, a sinister ritual and a wholehearted sacrifice. These were the elements that set the Cosmic Gears in motion of this world. It all relied on the variables, Lucien Alaric and Mikaela Howell. Having had a warm childhood was something they were always proud of, at least until they unveiled the illusion of this false happiness. Their moment of joy was apparently measured and limited. “The truth will be revealed to you when you awaken... Believe nothing but what you have witnessed and judged yourselves as the truth... Your enemies are closer than you think... Trust no one!” This were the words the children were left with. Their parents' dying words. Not words for children to live with, right? Clip sneak peek~! "What do you feel?" she asked. "Nothing..?" Mikaela responded, holding his sword tight at hand. In truth, to him, it was no different than cutting down a training puppets head. A tedious endeavor. "Good, you should spare no feeling to enemies, my child," a clear serene voice sounded, like the sweet whisper of the devil. In the air was the fishy rustic iron smell, the scent of human blood. Not just a splash of it but a mass graveyard pool of it. The heavy smell of death. Mikaela stood in the middle of this with calm eyes. The killing intent in his eyes seemed to have become deeper and richer. Lucien is born a mage while Mikaela is born a martial artist. They have distinctly opposing personalities and would rather stay away from each other, but destiny has other plans. They have to unite in the face of the upcoming trials of fate. One loss, spells death to both of them! No compromise! The sacrifice made to protect them drives them to face each day while vengeance motivates them to grow stronger. What kind of future shall they pave in the veil of uncertainty and hidden truth? While Lucien and Mikaela walk different paths, they ultimately have the same destination. The Apex! Chapter 34: Body Reconstruction

Today's event was unexpected.

During training, Mikaela began feeling pumped up, slightly feverish and high as he swung his sword. It seemed like he had a lot of adrenaline, he could swing his sword countless times and this energy wouldn't diminish. It wasn't until he pushed his body past his former limit he felt this way.

The pain was too sudden for him.

Bianca arrived, her ocean-blue eyes glistening with worry.

The first sight she saw was a child lying on the ground. They had sweat beads on their face, a pale blood-drained complexion and trembling limps curled up together.

It was an extremely weak and fragile form, it stirred pity and empathy on anyone who saw this. Bianca was no exception, she was greatly affected by this sight and could wish nothing more than to help the child, but Alas.

Although Mikaela was in great pain, no one could help him except himself, it was a contest of pain against his endurance.

Bianca's lashes trembled slightly as she clenched her fists and bit her lip. She was in frustration.

Deep down, she knew what path they were paving for their children. She didn't want the children to suffer such a cruel fate. For that, they had to suffer a bit in their childhood and become stronger.

'Is it too selfish to wish them strength so that they can face the future with pride?'

She contemplated if this path was right.

Bianca looked again and she saw the small child enduring and struggling to surpass the pain and reach the other end, an end which promised benefits.

Her blue eyes shone with a brilliant white light with traces of green sheen. She had concentrated her mana in her eyes and used her special vision to observe Mikaela's body for any anomaly.

She understood what was going on and quickly pinpointed the issue. She glanced at Mitchell was was fidgeting with anxiety. His eyes were glued on his child, wincing from time to time. He seemed to be going through a percentage of the child's torment.

She enlightened him of the situation.

"His body is breaking down and regenerating at an astounding speed. The impurities in his body are being forced out and his body is restoring itself to a perfect state. It is a painful process at this age but it can't be undone unless you want to leave him in a vegetative state. Kaela can only endure on his own," said Bianca.

Mitchell listening to his was both surprised and pained. Bianca's words were like a knife curving at his heart. He knew the pain of body reconstruction. He had experienced it himself before he became a master. At the time he was an adult used to pain and getting hurt, but even that was in no comparison to the pain of this process.

There was a distinct difference between getting cut on one part of the body and being shredded all over. This was like the latter.

"I-I see," he replied.

'So I can't be of help now either…'

He stared at Mikaela helplessly.

Mikaela on the ground tried enduring it without drifting to sleep. Or rather, the pain drilled at his mind that it didn't allow him to fall asleep or faint. He was conscious throughout the whole process.

His mind was hazy and he felt like someone was nearby but he couldn't think further about it. Trying his best, he breathed in and out. The unbearable pain subsided with each exhale.

He kept up his deep breaths while trying to figure out a way out of this predicament. Amid the slowly subsiding paint, he breathed in a strong putrid stench. Mikaela almost gave up breathing altogether. If not for the piercing pain that threatened to worsen if he hesitated his breaths, he probably would have.

He closed his eyes and clenched his hands, continuing the breathing practice.

In the midst of it, he felt the flow of his breath wasn't just limited to air going to his lungs but the particles in the air that went through his entire body. His body relaxed and felt refreshed more and more if you ignored the toxic stench invading his nostrils. The pain remained fresh but in his little corner of reality, he could somehow relax.

After who knows how long, he opened his eyes. He was met with the distorted faces of Mitchell and Bianca.

He glanced at his body since he felt slimy. A dark smudgy mud-like substance with red traces was sticking to his skin but his mind was slow to register what it was. It covered every inch of his skin. From head to toe, his clothes were stained with it. It made him look like a miniature mud monster. His seven-face openings oozed with blood.

A trail of bloody tears under his eyes, a nose bleed with snort, his ears bleed too, and he coughed out some dark blood too. It was a frightening sight for any parent t their child and Mitchell felt like his heart would stop at any moment.

Bianca could hardly maintain her expression calm as she cast a spell as soon as she realized Mikaela was awake. All the substance sticking to him had disappeared without a trace as it evaporated into the atmosphere. Her disgust-filled expression relaxed but the pale face proved it was not an illusion.

Mikaela stared at his skin which was not back to its usual shade.

Mikaela was embarrassed when he understood that that putrid stench was coming from him. His face turned tomato red and wanted to bury his head in a pit. Even his pale face couldn't hide the bright pink spreading to his neck and whole face.

Bianca heaved a sigh of relief since she didn't know how much longer she could endure being exposed to such a stench. At least without letting her noble dignity fall apart. She would have cursed out countless times if not for that.

She went to burn his clothes and formed a small barrier around him. She examined his body carefully for her distance.

Mikaela's last sight that evening was of his father rushing to him with a worried face. His eyes darkened. He lost consciousness and passed out.
