365 DAYS LATER
A whole year has come across since they arrived at their new home, nothing major has happened. They eliminated any of the dead that has come close or near in their sight. The horde in Washington still has stayed in the city, some of their people would go over there and would check on the accumulating horde.
Natalia has started to open up to some of the people in both towns. They have taken in a total of 12 people over the past year, every people has a contribution to the balance of their up and rising society. They have adapted to the new world already, they have gone through their first winter but they managed to push through it. They have gone through a few of the common seasonal allergies nothing major. They noticed how the dead would slow down during the winter, which they utilized in eliminating some parts of the horde. The two towns has come together and created a council in order to properly govern both towns.
Randall is chosen as the head of council due to Toby's suggestion and his massive contribution. Other members were chosen as the representatives of each committee. Toby is entrusted as the peacekeeper and head of the security in the town, Kayla and Bryce were chosen as head of the supply runners. Lee is the head of the gardeners, and other members were also assigned to do a specific part in the town. This shows just how their town has a fully adapted to the new world and developed a functioning society.
"Toby.. wake up. time for a run?"
"Alre.,..ady?"
"Yeah, come on PK"
"Pk?"
Kayla threw his bag at him and they start to prepare. They jogged across to the Rappahannock County Gen District. People are running around taking care of their own businesses. The buzzing of the people are suggestions about additions to the town. Randall along with Harry are listening and taking their ideas down, plans that can help expand their town into a city sized area or taking over one. They talked to the two about their run and they approved of it as they have no choice, there is too many people.
Tobias and Kayla left through the back door, Tobias smiled just thinking of what is happening in the building.
"What are you smiling about?"
"Uhm... its starting to look like the past"
They entered the sheriff's office an headed to the armory.
"Well... hopefully that is how the world looks like right?"
"Yep"
They picked up guns and melee weapons. A steel bat for Tobias and a machete for Kayla. They picked up magazines for their rifles and pistols, and suppressors. Kayla headed out first to grab bikes and Toby talked to his second in command.
"Bryce how are?"
"The horde that we are watching over by the fork of Long Mountain road and Walnut Grove lane"
"Yeah"
"yeah, we counted over 57.. then some of our reconnoiter told us that it has increased by a large margin"
"How large?"
"From 57 to 83"
"That jump?"
"Yeah, what do we do?"
"Start killing some of them that passes the lake house..... we don't want that forest to be a death zone"
"Okay"
"Rush river?"
"Ahh. Yes, any biter that we spotted we pulled them out then cleaned it"
"Good... keep it up"
"Of course"
Tobias then left and headed towards Middleton inn where every vehicle is being kept. Kayla is checking on the cars' wheels, something that caught Toby's attention immediately. He jogged quicker as it might be something that can turn into an issue.
"What's the problem?"
"3 of these cars have their wheels gashed"
"Oh no... do we have extra wheels?"
"No, we better warn Randall about these"
The got up and started to headed back to Randall and Harry. As they left for the council office, people from the sibling town arrived. Members names Holly and Patrick also seemed distress as they saw the two of them.
"Tobias"
"Hey... what are you two doing here?"
"Yeah, we have a problem on our vehicles"
"Gashed?"
"Yeah.. yeah how d-"
Tobias pointed at the vehicles wheel.
"Oh no, all of your wheels are like this?"
"Not all of it"
"How about you guys?"
"All of it, even our trucks... whoever is doing doesn't want us to go anywhere"
"Possibility of an attack?"
"I doubt that, we have yet to encounter anyone that wants to attack us"
"Lets go to Randall"
Back at Woodville Niall and Matilda are waiting for Holly and Patrick's arrival. They are waiting under the shade of their vehicle eating chips. Dylan spotted and approached them, he sat down beside them.
"Hey doc"
"Afternoon, waiting for Toby?"
"Yeah... The wheels are punctured, look"
Dylan looked over to the wheels and checked the wheels.
"Well, if only my suturing skills can fix this... it'll be good"
"Yeah.... but.. damn"
Toby and Kayla arrived at Randall's office along with Holly and Patrick. They can overhear Harry and Randall talking to Bryce, the four got in their and joined in the discussion. Tobias locked the door and looked out through the window and closed the window blinds.
"We have a problem sir"
"Yeah?"
"Our wheels have been punctured by someone"
"Pu- there's a hole in our cars?"
"Really? Toby?"
"Yeah, most of the wheels on ours have been punctured, then over at Woodville all of it"
"So what do we do?"
"We can go back to Elkton and get some wheels, right?"
"How can we pull it?"
"We'll find a way"
They discussed the different towns over the hill to them. They started to jot down different auto repair shops hopefully finding wheels or any vehicle parts that would be of use to them. Since the event back in Elkton they have managed to eliminate massive portions of the horde. They still did not have the time to clear out some of the towns as they have only thoroughly explored Elkton.
They started to assemble 6 teams with 4 members in order to gather supplies. Something deep within the conscience of the two brothers are peeking in. Back at Woodville Niall and Bryce is also thinking of the possibility that the figure they saw last year has to be involved in it. Randall started along with Bryce started to talk with 12 people that has joined them recently. They took them inside of the sheriff's office and in the interrogation they interrogated one by one.
Something led to their conclusion that its not one of the twelve people.
