Chapter 16 - Lab Rat(Part 4)

"Excellent work, you only took nine hits before destroying all the robots this time. You're finally into single digits in that regard," Remarked Alok, as he strapped me onto an operating table.

"Uh-huh," I responded blankly, starting to get numb to the whole thing.

Another substantial amount of time has passed, and of course, I have no idea exactly how much. They've been extracting a lot of blood from me lately, though I don't know what for.

They can take as much as they want, since I've heard them say that my body automatically replenishes any lost blood almost instantly. They've probably extracted several gallons at this point.

"It won't be much longer now until you're ready to be deployed. We'll use you to wipe out other Freaks, it'll be quite sweet to have them killed by a fellow Freak. You'll also be assassinating those who in positions of power who support Freaks. It's too bad we can't just upload fighting skills into you, it'd be so much easier that way," He sighed wistfully, as he began extracting blood from my arm.

"Uh, excuse me, sir, we have a-...!" Suddenly exclaimed another researcher, as he burst into the room with a panicked look on his face.

"Did you ship the last batch of blood we extracted to the other facility?" Alok interrupted up.

"Huh? Yeah, I sent it out yesterday, it should have already arrived there and-...no, wait, there's no time for this! Someone tripped the perimeter alarm, and our guards aren't responding to their comms! We've got intruders!"

"You have got to be kidding me...do we know how many there are?" He frowned as he got onto his feet.

"No, sir, whoever they are, they took out the security cameras without being spotted," He shook his head, before tapping on his earpiece and grimacing, "I'm getting word, it's a group of Freaks! And they're close, they'll be here soon!"

"Damn it...! What rotten timing!" Alok growled in frustration as he hastily undid my restraints, before snapping at me, "I want you to kill whoever the intruders are, is that understood? And keep me safe!"

Before I could respond, a powerful gust of wind suddenly burst into the room, the doors abruptly swinging open as the guy who'd rushed in to warn Alok was suddenly sent flying across the room and crashed onto a wall, losing consciousness and slumping down to the ground.

"It's over, you scum...we're putting an end to this vile operation of yours," Came an unfamilar voice, as I spotted someone standing where the researcher had just been.

It was a guy who looked like he was in his early to mid twenties, with spiked up blonde hair, purple eyes and a look of anger and disgust on his face.

"Shit...I recognize you, you're one of those Unity Freaks, aren't you?" Growled Alok icily, backing away warily.

Unity? They're the ones attacking? Am I...am I going to be saved?

"The name's Theo Ranger. But you can call me Turbo," He responded before cracking his knuckles, "Now, you can surrender. Or we can do this the hard way. Your choice, old man."

"Y-you, kill him, now!" Alok snapped at me with a panicked look on his face.

This...this might be my only chance to be freed from this place. If I kill this guy, I may forever be their slave...no. I won't do it...if it means I can be free, I'll endure any amount of pain...

"I'd rather see you die, you piece of shit," I smirked in response, before letting out an agonized cry of pain as excruciating agony burst out across my entire body, collapsing onto the floor and writhing in pain.

"Whoa, what's happening?" Frowned the Alter in bewilderment.

"Of all the time to...!? Listen to me, damn it, kill this Freak bastard! Obey me if you want the pain to stop!" He exclaimed furiously, as his back bumped onto a desk, cornered as the Alter took a step towards him.

"G-go...fuck...yourself...!" I gasped through gritted teeth, feeling like my body was getting torn apart.

"Just endure it for a little longer, we'll save you," The Alter assured me, before he began to zip towards Alok.

Suddenly, Alok pulled something out of the desk drawer, pointing it forward and pressing a button on the device, a devastating sonic blast shooting out of it.

The Alter collapsed onto his hands and knees with a pained look on his face, struggling to get up, but I didn't really feel it...no, I was too overwhelmed by the pain caused by the control chip to notice anything else.

"Mark my words, you Unity bastards will pay for this!" Declared Alok, as he placed the device on the floor, pointing it at the Alter and keeping him down, before glancing at me as he placed his hand on the wall and opened up a hidden passage, "Congratulations, you're free, for now. But rest assured, I'll have you in my clutches again, sooner or later. And then, I'll make sure to take extra precautions to ensure that you can never disobey me like this again. So don't go getting too comfortable."

With that, he rushed into the hidden entrance, which closed as he entered, the echo of his footsteps fading away as the Alter struggled to try and crawl towards the device emitting the sonic waves. I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself, doing my best to ignore the immense pain overtaking my entire body.

Alok isn't here anymore, so the order he gave me isn't valid anymore...I need to convince myself of that. I'm...I'm in the clear, I have no orders to follow. I don't...I don't!

I let out a sharp gasp and sat up as the pain then faded, before grimacing as a wave of nausea and vertigo washed over me as the sonic waves engulfed me.

The Alter is almost unconscious, blood trickling out of his left ear...I gritted my teeth as I reached for a nearby scalpel on the floor, picking it up, taking aim and then flinging it at the device with a rapid spin.

The sharp edge of the scalpel struck and pierced into the device, short-circuiting it and shutting off the sonic waves, the Alter letting out a strained sigh of relief as he slowly sat up, rubbing his head with a dazed look on his face.

"Thanks, man...I owe you one," He remarked with a weak smile.

"Get me out of here and we'll call it even," I responded as I shakily got back onto my feet.

This isn't a dream, right? It's really happening, right? Am I...am I really finally about to be free...?
