Bitter Sweet Love with My Stepbrother CEO

Yvette Matthews had a great early childhood. She had loving parents that has given her a great life. Her father was a 5-star master chef while her mother was a well known patissier in the culinary world. Her life was great but all of that changed when her parents got into a car accident and died. Yvette was orphaned at a tender age of six years old. In her parent’s wake, a middle aged man with his ten year old son came. He told Yvette that he was her parents’ friend from college and was willing to adopt Yvette. Her having no next of kin and rather than her going into foster care, the adults in the foster agency agreed after checking the man’s background. It was known that the middle aged man was the CEO of a large 5-star hotel and restaurant group that not only operated in the country but around the world. Yvette lived a life as a princess being doted by her stepfather and stepbrother. Even though she lived a life full of luxury, she stayed humble and studied hard to be a good chef and patissier like her parents. She loved her new family, and she harbored romantic feelings with her stepbrother, Joseph Hamilton. Something she kept a secret since she knew her feelings cannot be reciprocated. But all of that changed when her stepfather died of old age. When the lawyer of his stepfather read his last will leaving seventy percent of his fortune to Yvette including the rights to the Hamilton hotels. This shocked many especially her stepbrother, Joseph, since he was only left with thirty percent. But there was a clause in the will, that Jospeh could be the CEO if he marries Yvette and they produce an heir. Her life started to turn gray since Joseph was forced to leave his current girlfriend whom Yvette knew he loved so much and marry her to get the CEO title. Joseph’s kindness and pampering turned into hate and disgust. He became cold and aloof, coming home late and going to work early in the morning. Yvette’s only solace was the son she bore with Joseph on their wedding night. She poured all of her love to her little son. But fate was cruel to her once again when she found out that Joseph was seeing his ex-girlfriend once again. Hearing from someone that they were meeting in a hotel room, she mustered the courage to confront them. Yvette saw the ex-girlfriend in the hotel room wearing sexy lingerie. They got in the heated argument. “Seph does bot love you.” The ex-girlfriend said. “He just married you to get the position that should be rightfully his!” She shouted. “Do you not think I know that?!” Shouted Yvette. “But he is still married to me!” The two were pulling each other’s hair in the hotel balcony which is located at the 43rd floor. They both went over the railed in the heat of the moment and they were holding for dear life. “Dianne!” Joseph voice was heard inside the hotel room. “S-Seph!” The ex-girlfriend shouted. “Help me!” “Dianne!” Joseph was alarmed to see her hanging on the balcony. “Yvette? Why are you here?!” He sounded surprised. “H-Help me.” Yvette cried. “Hold on! I am going to get you out.” Joseph said but he pulled his ex-girlfriend first and took off his coat to put on to her. Yvette’s heart was crushed. She knew in that time that who Joseph really loved was Dianne and not her. This erased all of her hope on being loved and had let go. She felt her body falling for a long time. Yvette’s body felt light and she thought that she had now thrown all of her guilt and the burden in the loveless relationship. She wished that in her next life, she would not have this kind of love once again. But then she opened her eyes once again, to the day when the lawyer would read her stepfather’s last will. “I will changed my fate.” Yvette thought. “In this life, I will not be drowned in a loveless marriage with my stepbrother.”

The Fateful Day (2)

I am all good and was reqdy to go out when I heard a knock on the door.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

"Who is it?" I asked.

"It's me Yvy ." It was a familiar voice that always brought my heart into a frenzy.

"Seph…" I called out my stepbrother's name. "Please, come in." I replied.

The door opens and Joseph, my stepbrother comes inside. He was also wearing a black suit and trousers that signifies that he was in mourning, but like me he was wearing luxury brands.

"Are you ready?" Joseph asked me with his normal way of talking but my heart was already racing inside my chest.

"Yes, I am." I replied with a smile, acting normal as if there was nothing out of the ordinary.

If there is one thing I am good at, it is that I am good in masking my romantic feelings towards my stepbrother.

I looked at his face and he was as always looking as handsome as ever. I have always enjoyed watching his face but for some reason there was a sharp pain I felt in my heart. I held my chest and took a step back, not knowing where this pain came from.

"Yvy , are you alright?" Joseph quickly caught me in his arms looking very worried. "You don't look too well, your face is a little flushed."

Joseph put his hand over my forehead and felt my temperature. The sharp pain in my chest went away and I felt giddy being in my stepbrother's arms.

"You are a little hot…" Joseph said worriedly. "Why don't you skip the reading for now? I can just tell you about it after."

I shook my head.

"I am fine. I have already drank medicine. I would feel better in a while." I replied to him. "This is an important thing and the board members will also be present, and so I have to be there. I woudn't want to miss anything."

Joseph sighed.

"If that is what my little sister wants." Joseph patted my head as he has always done. "Then just hold on this brother's arms so that you won't need to exert yourself."

"Come on now, Seph." I jokingly said. "I am not a little girl anymore."

"That's right, you have grown up to be a rebellious little girl that want to shake off her big brother." Joseph retorted sarcastically with a snort.

"It is more of a young woman who wants to try to stand up for herself and be independent." I said. "But I would love to take your offer for now. I think I would need your arm since I am feeling a little fuzzy."

"That's a good girl." Joseph sweetly smiled at me. He took my arm and interlocked it on his. "Then let's go."

We exited my room and walked towards the stairs going down. A black Rolls Royce was waiting for us just outside of the front doors.

I felt I little happy knowing that Joseph was here with me by my side.

'You can't…' A small voice inside my head said. 'Don't let your feelings get the best of you.'

I felt wave of pain on my head and a vision just flew by in front of my eyes. In this memory I saw a red Ferrari parking just behind the Rolls Royce that was waiting for us outside. The driver was no other than my stepbrother's fiancée, Dianne. She was also invited to the reading of my stepfather's last will and testament because she was to be Joseph's wife. In the memory, she asked Joseph to go to the venue with her in her car and let me take the car alone meant for us stepsiblings. Since Joseph asked me nicely, I had told them I was okay to be alone but it felt lonely to be left alone inside the car.

I opened my eyes once again and Joseph and I were still at the foyer of the house.

"Yvy…Yvs.." Joseph called to me. "Are you okay? Like I thought, it would be better if you just rest for today?" He said worriedly.

"I'm okay. It is just that a wave of headache have just come and gone." I assured him.

"Are you sure you are alright?" Joseph was insistent.

"I am fine." I clutched his arms tightly. "Let's go. We don't want to be late."

I forced him to walk forward but my mind was in shock right now.

'What was that I just saw?' I thoguht to myself when we were walking towards the front doors.

Not long, the thing that I just saw started to play on real life. A red Ferrari stopped just behind the black Rolls Royce that was waiting for us in front. The driver's door opens and Dianne, Joseph's fiancée hops out.

"Seph!" Dianne calls out dearly.

"Dianne, what are you doing here?" Joseph asked in surprise. "I thought you would go straight to the venue?"

"That was the plan, but I thought it would be best to go there together with you." Dianne said. "Since we are already engaged, it would be best to show the board members we are together."

Joseph and Dianne was talking to each other but their words started to blurr out. I was in shock that the vision I had just saw a few minutes ago is now playing in front of me. I did not realize that I was holding Joseph's arms tightly.

"I am sorry, Di. But I cannot leave Yvs like this." Joseph looked at me worriedly. "I will go with Yvette since she did not feel well earlier. You can drive right behind us."

"Oh, is Yvette not feeling well?" Dianne asked and looked at me.

'I know that look.' I thought to myself. 'It was a look of contempt.'

Since Dianne started dating Joseph, I knew she had always faked her kidness towards me. She might seem kind when others are looking, but when others turned their back I can see her stare at me with such contempt. She didn't really fully showed her contempt towards me, but the signals I feel from her says it.

"I am sure she will be fine by herself, right Yvette?" Dianne asked with a pretty smile. I remembered in the vision I saw that I have caved in to her demands.

I felt a little rebellious now and did not want to give in to her petty tricks.

"Do I have to go alone?" I asked Joseph and acted a little weak. "I don't want to go alone, Seph."

"I am sorry, Dianne." Joseph replied. "I will go with Yvette first. You can follow us from behind."

"Hmm, okay." Dianne pouted.

"Please understand." Joseph let go of my hand and went to comfort Dianne. "It is just for now. We will be always be together after we are married that you would be sick of me." He kissed her forehead sweetly.

"Oh come on, who is going to be sick of who?" Dianned giggled. "I am afraid that you will be the one sick of me."

My heart ached seeing them lovey dovey.

"Excuse me!" The driver interrupted. "But if we don't get going, I am afraid we will be late."

"Okay…" Joseph ushered Dianne to the driver's side of her car. "Drive safely. Let's see each other at the venue."

"Okay." Dainne smiled and went in her car.

I was about to walk to the car myself with a heavy heart but in an instant Joseph was by my side and hel my hand carefully.

"Let's go." Joseph smiled at me and my heart skipped a beat.

Joseph ushered me inside the car carefully and went in after.

'You have to stop your feelings for him.' A voice in my mind said. 'Things won't end well if you push yourself on him.'

I treated the voice inside my head as my conscience stopping me from falling even more. I thought that it won't be bad following my conscience advice. I knew myself that my feelings will bring confusion to our stepsibling relationship.

'Then I should just follow my the voice in my head says.' I thought to myself.
