BILLY AND THE GANG

I combined all Billy And The Gang short stories into one book. A group of men, who are trying to run and hide from their pasts, but no matter where they go, their pasts are always behind them. They meet another young man in the group who is a lot younger than they are. The younger man falls in love with a young Indian girl. Towards the end, their past finally catches up with them, and they are killed, death by hanging.

Chapter 11

The next morning Frankie was downstairs cooking breakfast and drinking coffee. Josh came downstairs.

"Smells good," said Josh.

"Thank you," said Frankie.

"Something smells good," said Henry coming down the stairs.

Back upstairs, Lone Wolf and Billy were getting dressed.

"What are you going to do?" asked Billy.

"Billy, I'm not going to do anything, no more running, the more we keep running, the more they will run," said Lone Wolf.

"I know," said Billy.

"Come on let's go eat breakfast," said Lone Wolf.

So they went downstairs and started eating.

"Some friend you have, Henry. The Sheriff from Texas is coming down the road," said Frankie looking out the kitchen window while washing dishes.

"What," said Henry.

"You to get under the house," said Red Bear moving the couch over and pulling the rug back.

So they ran under the house. Red Bear quickly pulled the rug back over the door and moved the couch back over it. Frankie grabbed Billy and Lone Wolf's dishes and started washing them. Henry walks over to the door and opens it.

"Hello Sheriff, what brings you up here?" asked Henry.

"As I said before, I'm just looking for those two young men, I still have not found them, did you see them come up this way," said Sheriff.

"No sir, I have not seen them come up this way, you can tell if someone is coming by especially if they kick dirt up," said Henry.

"I hope you don't mind if we have a look around?" asked the Sheriff.

"No go ahead, it is your job," said Henry letting them inside, the deputy stepped in last and looked at Henry and smiled, then he started looking around. The sheriff went upstairs to check, and the Indian stayed downstairs to check around.

Lone Wolf and Billy saw the Indian through the cracks in the floor. The Sheriff came down back stairs.

Sorry for the inconvenience, we will be going now," said the Sheriff.

"Good day sir," said Henry.

The native deputy was the last one out, he looked back at Henry and smiled and walked out, and they left.

"They are there," said the Indian deputy.

"I believe so too, I saw their bedrooms," said the Sheriff. "We will wait, they will think we left town."

"Phew, that was close," said Billy.

"Too close, but I think they know," said Henry.

"Do you think that native knew because I heard that saying "it takes an Indian to find an Indian" quoted Billy?

"Yes, why do you think the bluecoats had so many scouts," said Lone Wolf.

"True," said Billy.

"Come on up boys, they are gone," said Henry.

"Some friend," said Frankie.

"No, Jason would not do that," said Henry.

"You sure about that?" asked Bob now wondering about Jason as well.

"Yes I am sure, I'm more worried about that Native, he is not stupid," said Henry.

Lone Wolf looked out the window. "He knows."
