I

Melissa's pov.

That night, I went to bed with a heavy heart. The last time I felt this kind of pain was when my Dad died. Everything just seems complicated and very hard to figure out.

Everything still looked like a nightmare to me.So, they actually believe they can look down on us just  because we are working under them,  very disgusting set of people!

I flipped the bed cover to a side in anger, got out of the bed and walked to my mini fridge to take a bottle of water. The light is not on, but I can still walk easily without bumping into anything. I slowly dropped the bottle on my reading table after gulping down more than half of the content.

I stay motionless at the little space beside where the fridge was placed, my back resting on the cold wall, battling with my subconscious mind if I really made the perfect choice with what I told my mom to do concerning the offer.

Truth be told, I actually considered the deal, I mean a part of me wanted to jump at the offer, but come to think of it, these wealthy people are heartless. How can you let someone undergo this kind of risk without telling his family anything, even if the person insisted on doing so. But since they believe they can actually settle anything that might appear to be an obstacle with their money, they think everything will be okay.

I sighed, twisting my fingers into eachother's, breathing loudly under the pallid room.

Mom gave me many reasons why I should not think otherwise, telling me there must be a reason why my father chose that path, that is not like he had much time left as at then, she said she didn't even know he would be able to survive another three years.

The sudden sound from my phone jerked me out of my thoughts, my eyes darting towards the wall clock.

" Who is the person calling me in the middle of the night," I thought, I know it can't be Melanie or Draven, I told the two not to disturb me, I nearly screamed at Melanie on the phone when she kept on insisting on seeing me. So, who is the person?

I stood straight, departing my back from the wall, I strode towards the bed.

I stopped on my track instantly when my eyes landed on the phone screen.

" Bobby," I hissed, I could feel my face turning sour as I glared at my phone in anger...

Why is he calling me? I guess, he must have been pretending all this time about not knowing my father well, when he was actually the one that saved him from the bridge of death. If I could only travel back in time, I would have preferred never to get involved with him again. Not even a drop of love left in my heart for him, everything has been shattered since yesterday evening.

I reached for the phone abruptly, pressing the red button and then switched off my phone, before tossing it back to the bed.

You are doing the right thing Melissa, you don't deserve to forgive their family, not even their wicked son. There is no way he will be clueless about the person that donated something that is essential for him, or maybe they actually hid it from him. No! That's not possible! Why did it seem like a part of me still doesn't want to believe that he might be pretending since all this time.

After a series of thoughts battle, I eventually climbed back to bed, and the rest was..........

Before I knew it, the twilight had disappeared and the morning is here again. Nobody was in the  house by the time I woke up, maybe it was because I woke up late. The headache I was feeling by the time I opened my eyes made me spend an additional thirty minutes on the bed, doing nothing actually, just staring at the ceiling above my head.

At last, I hurried to the bathroom, took my bath as fast as I could, and put on my clothes at the speed of light. I reached out for my phone to check my schedule for the day. I was assigned with five other maids to clean the conference room on the second floor of the mansion.

I don't wait to arrange my scattered room before I gambol out of the house.

Immediately I walked out of the quarter's gate, I reduced my pace and started walking slowly. i have not even been up to five meters before I noticed one of the maid I was assigned with.

" Rachel!" I waved at her, and she stopped and turned to me. I smiled, while I ran a little faster to meet up with her.

Breathing heavily, " Good Morning" I managed to say, trying to catch fresh air.

" Morning, I thought you  not  to join us this morning," she mumbled, i smiled as I stand upright again.

" Not really, I slept off," I muttered.

" I see, let quickly join the others,"

" Are you just going?" I asked, as we walked side by side.

" No, I help the head maid to bring something to the quarter"

" Okay,"

Everything went silent again, as we both headed to the mansion. I have the option to start back at the quarter without doing anything, but that will only make this worse, helping and doing some work can easily eat up my time for the day before I will even realise it, preventing me from thinking about it.

" Less I forgot, someone came to look for you at the conference room" Her toneless voice made me look at her side. We just reached the entrance of the first floor, I trembled a little as we stepped into the cold passage.

" When? You know the person?"

" About an hour ago, I guess the head maid must have told him to come looking for you at the conference room, since you are assigned to that place today"

" Him?"

" He said he called you, anyway he told us not to mention that he came to ask for you to anybody"

That's when it hit me that I left my phone at quarters, I don't even remember to turn it on this morning.

She suddenly leaned  to my ear, " It's the chairman son, Bobby"

" Bobby?"
