Beyond Your Eyes

There is an old classic saying, in which our eyes are the window to our soul. Our deepest fears and desires hide within them. For Celeste D’Angelo, she is someone others would consider to be very blessed. As the only child to a vastly wealthy family whose power and influence knows no bounds, nothing stands in her way. With her serene personality she adored by her friends and is even considered among her peers as a glamorous classic doll. But despite that, internally Celeste has her own struggles, desires, and fears that if someone paid just a little more attention - they might mock and be cruel to her. On the surface nothing fazes or bothers her, but as one gets deeper and deeper into her skin a different story is told. Dean Cortez is a man who is a human hurricane. Also hailing from a wealthy family, Dean takes life by the reins and drives off leaving a disaster in his wake. Crass and wild, much like a wild mustang, he is a force that can’t be stopped. For Dean he indulges in doing whatever, whoever, and whenever. Embodying everything people expect from a rich kid especially one of equal status to the Cortez Family. But everyone has secrets, and though everyone gets close to him, no one sees the secrets he hides beyond his eyes and deep in his heart. Through some circumstances the pair end up together, and while they are vastly different from one another, their defining traits perfectly balance them out like Yin and Yang. Follow along to see how they navigate their mid-twenties, familial and societal pressures, the secrets they carry, and their growing affection for one another. authors note: This is my first kind of slice of life novel! Chapter 152 - Truth Be Told

By the time I woke up it was already the end of breakfast and was now rolling into lunch. I was not particularly annoyed as I felt well rested and from what I recalled last night our plans were not time sensitive so I felt better about it overall. My phone which had been on do not disturb since last night was now buzzing as notifications rolled in.

I recalled what was going on back home and I did not need that tainting my trip so I just responded to messages only from my family and left the rest to be dealt with later. Dean surprisingly was also awake and checking his phone as well.

"Morning beautiful." He sat himself in an upright position leaning his back onto the headboard. I watched his expressions to see if he also got similar messages like I did but he made no indication saying so. He had a true pokerface.

"Morning handsome. Should we order in food or actually go out to eat?" The restaurants they had in the hotel looked really good but during our exploration when we landed we passed by some cafes and breakfast places which looked great as well.

"Hmmm normally I would be down to eat here but I saw that cafe that serves that hot chocolate that people say to try when you come so if you are down we can go there. That way we can just head directly to the next spot without having to rush and we will be ready to go."

Looking at the weather the hot chocolate sounded great to warm me up so without skipping a beat we got ready. It was interesting seeing the routines each of us had and how they were either the same or different.

Dean and I both liked to start the morning by brushing our teeth and washing our face first. It was cute sharing the bathroom and following our simple tasks together. Seeing our reflection in the mirror was kind of like seeing what married life was like.

After we both did our skincare routine. His was much shorter than mine but he still stuck around until I was done.

Where we differed was that I began to work on my hair so Dean left to get dressed. Because I washed my hair twice due to our late night activities it was a bit dry but because I was straightening it, the thermal protector and oil brought back a lot of the shine and smoothness I needed.

When I finished Dean was already dressed in his winter clothes. He wore an emerald green cashmere long sleeve with some dark colored jeans. He still had not put on his shoes but he set aside the boots he was planning to wear as well as his vintage pilot jacket.

He was prone to overheating as he was a living portable heater so the layers of clothes he worse was much less than what I had planned. While Dean left to fix his hair I took the opportunity to get dressed as well. I layered a cream merino wool turtleneck under a tan knit sweater and over the sweater I put on my oversized leather jacket.

Slipping on a pair of fleece lined tights I layered that under my pants to insulate me further. I grabbed my light blue wool scarf and placed it by the bag I was using today. I grabbed my dark brown Uggs which I brought as my feet had poor circulation so they always froze first.

After assuring I was nice and layered it was not long before Dean came out and we walked out together to the cafe. The weather though cold was actually fairly nice. It was not very windy so no chill drafts and there was no active snowfall which again was also nice as it meant it was easy to just walk to our destination.

The cafe was still pretty busy despite pretty much already being noon. We ordered our drinks and meals for breakfast and waited to be served. "So what is the pan for today? Can I know now or is it still a surprise?"

Dean tapped my nose and teasingly. "I think you have waited long enough. So little backstory for this date, I considered the many things to do here in the city of love and was highly overwhelmed. So I broke up the events in things each of us would like so we can explore more of our individual interests together."

"I figured that we might be jet lagged so for the first date I chose one that can be easily moved around to fit our needs. This first activity will be a private tour of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. I know you like books and reading as well as a general appreciation for architecture and academia, so we will get to see the library as well as see the archives and restoration of manuscripts and books."

"Oh my goodness how exciting!" Truth be told when Dean mentioned he wanted to plan our dates I was a bit nervous not because I thought he would do a bad job but rather I was worried if whether he will manage to pull it off. If gift giving gave him a struggle I was unsure if recreational planning fell within that umbrella.

I really loved this date idea as it showed he really thought the trip carefully and considered what I would enjoy even if it was not something as high a priority for him like it was for me. "Oh Dean I love that. I can't wait to see it."

Dean parted his lips to say something further but by this time our food came so we paused our conversation to eat. I normally had a hearty appetite but maybe it was from waking up late but I was even hungrier than usual. I scarfed down the food quickly.

"There is no rush princess our driver will pick us up once I call him so take your time."
