Assassin

At one eventful night amidst the raging celebration of the founding of the new empire of Babylon groups of shady people were lurking around the shadows of the royal palace.

Beers, wines and alcoholic beverages were being spilled around every corner of the kingdom as the kingdom of babylon was celebrating the 500th founding anniversary of the new kingdom of babylon.

A grand celebratory party hosted by the king was taking place in the royal palace. Almost all of the noblest people of the kingdom were present in the party organised by the king.

At the brightly illuminated party cheerful laughter of people could be heard while at the dark shadowy silent corridors careful footsteps of groups of people could be heard.

Amidst the raging celebration where peoples were exchanging greetings while bonding over a glass of wine some eyes were unusually keeping tracks of something.

In one of the dark corridor of the royal palace two men dressed in knight like armour were patrolling the area while holding spear and shield in their hands.

"Man I wish I could get into the party and get drunk like those shitty noble bastards. While they joyously drink and celebrate inside the palace we are here keeping guard and maintaining the security. It's just ain't fair"

One of the soldier complained as he walked forward while patrolling the area.

Along the way he kept on bitching the nobles who were enjoying the party and exclaimed how frustrated he was to hold on to such a boring profession. But he couldn't hear any response of his compatriot.

"Yo man why aren't you saying something?"

The unresponsive attitude of his compatriot annoyed him and thus he looked behind to check on him.

But the darkness of the corridor made it hard for him to see anything properly.

"Yo man, where are you?"

He yelled while searching for his compatriot.

But the only sound that he could hear was the sound of his footsteps. The unresponsiveness of his compatriot scared him and he started to sweat profusely.

While clenching his spear he moved forward looking for his compatriot. Just then his legs hit something which tripped him on the floor and he tumbled down.

"Argh. What is it?"

He mumbled while trying to maintain his composure.

He then slowly tried to stood up but felt a very cold liquid seeping in his palms. He slowly raised his hand while trying to see what was in his hand. But the dark corridor made it hard for him to see.

Unable to see anything he slowly reached his hands to the place where he tripped himself.

While crawling on the floor he moved forward relying on his sensation of touch. The more he moved forward the more denser the liquid got. Finally he reached the object on which he stumbled before.

"What's this? It feels like a person"

He started to panic upon touching the object.

The more he touched it the more he started to panic. At first it was only a doubt but after feeling it for a while he came to a realization that he was indeed touching a dead body and the liquid which he felt earlier was non other than blood.

His breaths started to get heavy and he started to sweat profusely. In a state of panic he quickly stood up and stormed away. He ran as fast as he could without looking back in order to warn other guards.

After running for a while he saw a dim light at the end of the corridor. The dimly lit light at the end of corridor filled him with hopes of surviving.

Just when he thought that he had escaped from the danger he felt something scratching his neck and afterwards he couldn't feel his body anymore.

He felt like he was flying ahead. And then after floating for a while suddenly he dropped to the ground. Upon dropping to the ground he saw his body without head lying at a certain distance away from his sight. The sight of his body without a head horrified him.

And soon his consciousness started to fade and he closed his eyes.

Just then a shadow like person from the ceiling jumped down. Blood was dripping from the sword which he was holding.

He then coldly stared at the corpse of the soldier which he beheaded a moment ago.

[What are you doing standing there A-1? Hurry up! We don't have a lot of time in our hands.]

A second person appeared from within the shadow and commanded him to hurry up.

He hurriedly stormed ahead after listening to the unidentified second person while hiding in the shadow. Few more people followed after them afterwards.

The groups of unidentified people hurriedly rushed forward. And after a while all of them scattered to different direction.

In the room where Henry's mother resided she was having tea while looking at the moon.

Just returning to her abode after attending the party hosted by the king, she sat by herself infront of the window while sipping her tea.

'How beautiful the moon is today'

She mumbled while admiring the beauty of the moon.

Unaware of the dangers lurking in the palace she sat beside the window peacefully gazing at the moon while sipping her tea.

"Ugh.. Argh... What's happening? Why's my stomach hurting all of a sudden?"

She started to scream painfully.

Within a blink of an eye the sudden pain in her stomach started to get much more severe. While holding her stomach she fell on the ground.

Writhing in pain she desperately yearned for help. She tried to shout for help but words didn't come out of her mouth.

With every passing second the pain got even more severe and she could feel that her consciousness was fading away with every breath she took.

She realised that something was wrong with her tea. But it was too late for her now as she started to vomit blood.

Unable to endure the pain any longer her consciousness started to fade and her eyes started to close.

'Someone must have poisoned my tea. I'm sure it's her doing.'

She realised the culprit who poisoned her tea in her dying moments.

But it was already too late for her as she stopped breathing after closing her eyes.

At the same time Henry appeared in his bedroom looking all tired. As soon as he reached his bed he threw his body in the bed.

'Gosh! It was such a tiring event. Greeting all those people took a heavy toll on my body. I don't even have the energy to change my clothes. I'll just sleep like this.'

He mumbled while lying in the bed with his face lying down.

He then let out a deep sigh and tried to roll his body. Just when he rolled his body sideways a dagger came flying barely missing him. Had he stayed still in his original position he would have been pierced by the dagger.

Shocked by the sudden appearance of the dagger he quickly stood up.

"What? Who's there? How did assassin's sneak into the palace? What happened to the guards?"

He started to panic.

While rolling his eyes all over the place he stood in a defensive position. Unable to find the assassin who threw the dagger at him he raised his guard while analysing his surrounding.

Suppressing his emotion he calmed himself down to face the situation ahead. He knew that a slight moment of hesitation and emotion would lead him to his death.

He looked everywhere searching for the assassin but failed to look at his own shadow. As the assassin was hiding in his shadow and appeared from within his shadow.

Beneath his feet a sword came flying straight towards his face leaving him completely bewildered.

Instinctively he avoided the sword by a hairs breadth. As the sword flew towards his face he quickly stepped back while avoiding getting stabbed.

Finally one of the assassin showed it's appearance infront of him. He quickly raised his guard up and calculated that the assassin which were after his life had some kind of ability that would allow them to hide in the shadow.

Relying on his wits he casted a bright lightball magic which illuminated the whole place. The bright illumination revealed the position of the assassins which were hiding in the dark shadow.

There were altogether 5 assasin present in his room.

One infront of him the second one behind the curtains of the window, one above the ceiling, one behind the doors and one beside the bed.

He quickly assumed a defensive position and casted a offensive spell which froze the entire place. The assassin quickly reacted to his magic and avoided getting freezed.

But the one infront of him couldn't dodge his skill and was freezed.

Despite his scrawny appearance that of a child, the assassin quickly realized the threat he possessed.

The assassin behind the curtain threw small marble like balls at him. Henry sensing danger dodged the ball like things which were thrown at him.

But as he dodged the ball like things burst and released black smoke which blocked his vision.

With the release of the smoke the assasin behind the door and the ceiling quickly jumped at him with their swords pointed at him.

The other two assasin joined without wasting any time as well.

After a while when the smoke started to clear, all four of the assassin which jumped at him were tangled and chained by wooden vines.

Henry just before he dodged the smoke balls casted a type of magic beneath his foot which would grow vines and tangle anything that touches it.
