Chapter 44: Changing The Guard

Villagers were actively repairing the palace and structures needing attention. The former king's, or should I say usurper's, soldiers and guards were bound and waiting for their fate. Poe's adversary at the gate was being led away, kicking and screaming, her blond hair in disarray and eyes blazing. Her threats and screams of revenge gradually faded as I continued walking. I scanned the faces as I passed. I recognized a few guards from my stay in the dungeon and quickly looked forward. A flash of blue caught my eye and I paused.

Blue Hood.

Beside the familiar blue hooded guard sat a slender, dirty - haired, and muddy - faced guard with amber eyes.

"Roe!" I cried happily.

Hope lit his eyes as he caught sight of me, "My Lady!"

Roe was quickly quieted by a set of guards, but I stepped in, lifting a hand, and spoke with as much authority as I could muster.
