I take back what I said.

When I said that I didn´t see anything special about it I only gave my evaluation after feeling for anything supernatural, I clearly didn´t include biological or technological possibilities.

I only noticed about a week after I arrived that the new would constantly report things about some terrorists that I actually paid any attention. Don´t blame me, I was busy memorizing all of fandom.

After hearing this, I started doing some research. I honestly can´t find any excuses as for why I didn´t notice a fucking zombie apocalypse taking place in the US. I mean, I'm currently in Norway and I have other things to do than to watch the news but seriously?

My research came back with two- no, three important info's.

First off, this terrorist everyone was talking about was named Alex Mercer, a name I recognized easily. This info wasn´t hard to find since he was on the news every day.

Secondly, just to be sure I did some background check on Gentek and the past few years to see if anything was different to what I knew.

That brings me to my third point. Unlike in the game, Mercer didn´t just absorb the biomass from humans but also from animals, giving him way more genetic material to evolve from which in turn drastically increased his power and power arsenal.

I saw reports of the military looking NYC down like in the game but he just assimilated a frog and a flee to super jump across the barricades. Good thinking I might add. One thing that made Mercers evolution slow down significantly in the game was the lack of new gene strands, if he were in Marvel or MHA he would basically fly to godhood with all these genes there.

Now that thing about it, the Blacklight virus and even the Redlight virus were just what I needed right now because I learned that there are different kinds of evolutions.

Mine was currently more like a continues growth of things I already had, imagine a Kryptonian under the yellow sun, but I couldn´t grow new gene strains on my own which is the reason why I absorbs some bodies with unique or strong genes.

There are two other ways of evolution I know about. One is the advanced version of mine that allowed the growth of new genes and the other did the same just in evolutionary stages, meaning instead of continues evolution they periodically get a huge powerup.

While I´m already at explaining I might as well tell you a bit about adaptation.

Adaptation was basically the second way with a few differences. It was a very powerful ability when under stimuli and even allowed the development of new genes but it had one fatal shortcoming everyone overlooked. Once you challenged anyone and anything and have basically reached the peak of existence and became the ultimate lifeform, there will be no more growth.

Since it relied on external stimuli once it was gone it would simply stop. This is a disadvantage evolution didn´t have, it might be slow but it was truly infinite.

Now back to the topic of the walking plague, Mercer had adaptive evolution, meaning the second evo form and adaptation, and I wanted it, no, I must have it, that way I also won´t have to possess others to get new genes anymore and can just kill them.

I honestly wasn´t confident I could easily absorb an evolved Mercer, his evolution would counter me trying to copy his genetic imprint and we would come to a standstill. I would get better at absorbing him the more of his DNA but at the same time the more time passed the more resistance he will have against me. This leaves me with only one choice, the easy way.

Time Travel

You heard right, I can and will travel back to the moment where he released the virus in Pennsylvania Station. Back then it didn´t really start evolving yet, giving me basically a 100% chance of absorbing it.

You might wonder why I don´t just let myself be bitten by an Infected, the answer was simple. I wanted the pure Blacklight and not the version that already got contaminated by beings with such weak genes that they just died upon contact and Mercer was the only one who succeeded, kind of, if you ignore that he is already dead.

Anyway, I was now near Pennsylvania Station so that if I arrive at the right time, I won´t immediately be discovered.

This was my first time climbing up the timestream so I had to concentrate a lot but after a while I did it. I watched with interest as everything that happened here over the last few years play backwards until I arrived at the moment where I saw Mercer running into the station with a group of armed men chasing after him.

Time to get another big upgrade.
