Chapter 27: The Hardest Betrayal

“Loki, what are you doing!?” I cried, struggling against him.

“I’m getting what I came here for,” he snarled behind me.

“Loki!” Persephone gasped. “I told you, I’m not going with you!”

“You’re not going to have a choice,” Loki hissed. He twisted my arm tighter.

“Ow,” I whimpered, my shoulder straining uncomfortably.

“Caleb, look at me!” Loki shouted, his voice nearly breaking my eardrums as it boomed around me.

Slowly, Caleb turned away from the window to look at us. I was half bent over, panting and sweating as my shoulder threatened to dislocate. Caleb arched an eyebrow, lips pursing slightly as he took in my agony.

“What exactly are you proposing?” he asked, looking out the window once more before turning his full attention to us.

“An even trade. Genevieve for Persephone,” Loki said. “You have the one you really want and my sister is released to me. Never to be bothered by you again.”
