Cassandra comfortably sat by a window awaiting Gabriel's return with good news. He left in a terrible mood so she hoped he returned in better spirits for her sake.

Cassandra's plan to make Selene control her maids had backfired into something she didn't predict to happen. She didn't know Selene would be so bold to ask for a divorce.

'He made her sound like he was all she had yet she left and found Lord Blackthorn,' Cassandra thought.

Cassandra hadn't heard anything about Gabriel or his wife having some kind of close relationship with Xavier Blackthorn.

"Was she having an affair?" Cassandra wondered. It would create even more gossip if Selene had been walking around looking so pitiful to have someone feel sorry for her while she entertained another man.

Gabriel would not like to admit it but Cassandra saw Selene had found a far better man to latch herself onto. The only problem came with keeping Xavier interested.
