Ch3. Freedom

[Mc POV]

The light engulfed me as it skimmed past my body, with out knowing my body was left there in a meditative state. While my spirit was pulled away, the spirits sat on me trying to protect my body. Opening my eyes to see a complete white space, a massive tree that sat at the center. A large owl that had its back turned to me slowly turning its head around.

"It really has been a long time huh? Old friend"

The owl's deep voice said its pitch-black eyes had a soft look, opening its wings, as it flew down towards me. Towering above me I looked at him turn his head to the side.

"Yeah, you took your sweet time waking up"

I scrunched up my face faking like i was mad and turning my head like the great owl.

"I'm sorry I didn't think It would take so long, I wanted to pay you back I could not separate from you or we would both die."

The owl spoke in a saddened voice while looking down on me but its mood changed as it saw me smile.

"I don't blame you old man I know why you did it. If you haven't I would have died long ago and wouldn't have the power I have now"

Jin laughed at the owl with a grin on his face watching him turn his head away.

"I see you haven't changed much ugh, I understand you know I don't have long but I wanted to tell you. Thank you for guarding me all these years, that piece of my spirit I left inside you has grown so there is no going back now."

The owl waves its wing, the white world changed into a massive avatar of myself. Looking down on both of us, showing the spot where the spirit energy was and how it branched out in my body.

"Is this the reason I don't age? Was the water what helped it grow?"

Jin questioned after taking his shirt off revealing the spiral tattoo over his heart and the owl tattoo that completely covered my back.

(AN like a large tattoo of wan shi tong type of owl)

"Yes your body could not handle my power, that last attack should have killed you. I have lived for thousands of years through the cycle but I was young in this new body when I went to answer the avatars call. The only way to keep you alive was you give you a part of my life and sit you In the water of beginnings. You will age over time but you can share this gift with others if you wish but it will lessen over time."

The owl spoke as the giant avatar pulsed, showing how the life force would be less and less if shared it with others.

"I am forever grateful I will not forget your kindness, my only wish is to get back to the ones I love to see the world again"

I looked at the world as it changed back to white the owl turned looking at me as the third eye opened on its forehead. Watching the tree glow and the owl make a noise like it was approving.

"I know what you wish, this world is far out of the reach of even the avatar now. I will not make you stay here any longer, you saved me even knowing you could be killed. It's about time I returned the favor."

The owl's dark eyes looked into mine as I was pulled back into my body. Looking at the spirit protecting me, I couldn't help but chuckle. Dropping out of meditation the spirits flew as my spirit friend Mimi landed on my head.

"They will miss you it seems"

Opening its wings the massive owl's voice shook this realm. The spirits stopped and looked on to the owl as it spoke.

"I will miss them but I think Mimi would like to come with me right girl"

Reaching up to the dumpling headed clear spirit who clung on to my finger with big puppy eyes refusing to let go.

"It would seem so, very well Mimi you may go are you two ready?"

The owl flapped it's wings as the wind blew, the spirits and I floated into the air after him. Flying far above to the rift. Watching as the trail of back feathers felt turning white as they did.

"You can say you'll miss me you know"

I yelled out to the owl who didn't look back, even if he did not say it I was his friend we had been through much together.

"Who would miss you? You a human does not belong in this world. It is my job as the spirit of wind to set you free"

The owl spoke back even if he tried to hide it. I could hear the sadness in his voice.

"That sucks, you were my true friend and I will always miss you. As long as we have this connection it does not matter where I am, you will always be like a father to me"

Speaking freely while we came to a stop I smiled, I did not have parents and even if he did not wake up long. When the great owl did he helped me with many things, pushing me over when I slacked off, teaching me to use my power. Tell me of the lands or of the spirits letting me talk to him freely as he would listen. Over time I came to look at the owl as a father and someone I care about.

"Father?"

The owl looked down at me with wide eyes watching as I floated over and leaned on him spreading my arms and gave him a hug.

"Yes father"

The owl looked on seeing my heart for what it was and wrapped his wing around me pulling me closer, I can't lie even as a killer I did not have family in either life which made me cry.

"Very well my son"

The owl felt the loneliness in my tears as his eyes shined, other tattoos of text telling our story showed up on my arms. looking up at the owl I smiled a genuine smile.

"Now go, if the world wills it we will meet again now go my son!"

The owl gave a nod with a look of understanding in his eyes, just like me he had no one and now he has a son. Before I could reply i and Mimi were pushed into the rift. I looked at the owl threw the portal, as I free fell seeing a tear in his eye while he turned away.

"Thank you for everything old man"
