The Roast
Fara stepped out of the hotel lobby, sunglasses firmly in place and a scarf wrapped loosely around her neck. She looked every bit the picture of casual chic, except for the faint ache in her legs that made her wince with every other step. "Damn you, Ziggy," she muttered under her breath.
Her phone buzzed in her bag as she walked. A message from Nindy popped up.
Coffee at my place? I'm bored.
Fara groaned but replied anyway.
Be there in ten.
She needed to see Nindy, not just because her friend always had something snarky to say that could make Fara laugh, but because Fara had a pressing ... personal errand she needed help with.

The cafe Nindy owned was already bustling with its usual morning crowd. Nindy herself was perched at her favorite corner table, scrolling through her phone, a perfect picture of stylish nonchalance. She waved lazily as Fara approached.
