Chapter 14: The Second Round of Assessment

Upon hearing Xu Lei's words, the remaining applicants were all stunned. A melee?

Tang Luo was also stunned. These city folks really knew how to have fun!

His gaze swept over the remaining applicants as he chuckled. That sleazy youth who had said he wanted to sleep his way to the top with President Han as his boss hadn't been eliminated yet. He was about to let this guy know why the flowers were so red!

"No forming teams, you must act individually, no using any fitness equipment, you must rely on bare hands..."

Xu Lei continued to explain some of the assessment rules.

The remaining applicants didn't seem to mind and were rubbing their hands together, ready to go on a rampage.

"Since nobody has any problems, let's start now. The timer begins!"

After Xu Lei finished speaking, she left the gym with a few beauties, watching through the glass.

As soon as they exited, all the remaining applicants became alert, watching the others warily for fear of being stealth attacked.

Bang!

Someone made the first move, attacking the person beside them.

Fists pounded against flesh, emitting dull thuds.

Once one person started, the gym immediately erupted into chaos, almost everyone shouting as they charged at those nearby.

Tang Luo had also become a target, and it was none other than the bald brother he had exchanged a few words with before.

"Hey, bro, we've at least exchanged a few words. We're friends, right?"

Tang Luo dodged the bald man's punch and yelled at him.

"Who the hell is your friend? I'm here to beat you up!"

After speaking, the bald man threw another punch.

When Tang Luo heard this, he thought, well, since you've put it that way, no need for courtesy.

Smack.

Tang Luo blocked the bald man's punch and then kicked him in the stomach.

Thump.

The force was such that the bald man was sent flying and crashed heavily onto the floor.

The bald man screamed in agony, his stomach churning as if a river had turned upside down, and he just couldn't get back up!

In just one minute, six out of the sixteen applicants were down, indicating how fierce the fighting was.

Tang Luo took a careful look and then headed straight for the sleazy youth.

"Buddy, we're both skilled fighters. Once we clash, we're bound to both take damage… Besides, they didn't say we can only leave one standing when the time is up… Let me tell you, I am from the Wolf Fang Special Forces..."

The sleazy youth had seen Tang Luo kick the bald man flying and knew he was not someone to mess with, so he quickly said.

"Cut the crap. I'm here to beat up a Wolf Fang Special Forces guy!"

Tang Luo dropped this line and threw a punch with the force of thunder.

The sleazy youth's face changed dramatically. He wanted to dodge, but he simply couldn't; it was too fast!

Bang!

Following that, Tang Luo's fist crashed into his body, causing him to scream in pain.

Thump, thump, thump!

Tang Luo, seizing the momentum, threw several more punches, knocking the sleazy youth to the ground. After making sure he wouldn't get up anytime soon, he stepped on his face again.

The sleazy youth cried out. What grudge or hatred do we have? Why are you doing this to me? Did I sleep with your wife or something?!

After knocking the sleazy youth to the ground, Tang Luo didn't pause, but charged towards the others.

Soon, the sounds of thuds and screams were continuous in the gym, and the remaining few were all on the ground, unable to get up.

Soon, in the vast gym, only Tang Luo remained standing, especially conspicuous.

He crossed his arms and looked around, feeling somewhat like a peerless master seeking defeat.

"..."

Outside, Xu Lei and the others were all dumbfounded. Everyone had fallen?

Wasn't that a bit too exaggerated?

Originally, Xu Lei thought that after three minutes, at least three or four people would remain, and then President Han could choose from those.

Now, however, there was no need for a choice; only Tang Luo was left.

"Xu, Manager Xu, time is up."

The girl beside her reminded her, her eyes filled with stars as she looked at Tang Luo.

Xu Lei snapped out of it, opened the door of the gym, and saw Tang Luo, standing out like a crane amongst a flock of... no, a flock of dead chickens, forcing a smile, "I declare that the one passing the second round of assessments is..."

At this, she chuckled bitterly. Was there even a need for an announcement? It was quite obvious!

"Congratulations, Tang Luo, for passing the second round of assessments. You can now proceed to the final... um, I can take you to meet President Han now."

"Alright."

Tang Luo's lips curled into a smile. Could he finally meet his ladyboss now?

He wondered what her expression would be when she saw him; surely, she would be extremely surprised?

"So, you guys are alright?"

Xu Lei turned to the applicants still lying on the floor, asking with concern.

The applicants groaned, each in considerable pain.

At least, they wouldn't be getting out of bed for three days!

"So, Manager Xu, I think they should probably go to the hospital, especially... that guy."

Tang Luo pointed at the sleazy young man, whose ribs he had broken three of; he'd probably have to stay in the hospital for a while.

Xu Lei's mouth twitched. The guy seemed somewhat harmless but was surprisingly ruthless!

After arranging for someone to take the applicants to a nearby hospital, Xu Lei took Tang Luo to the CEO's office via the elevator.

In the elevator, Tang Luo sized up Xu Lei. This girl wasn't married yet, right? If he played his cards right, she could definitely be a real catch!

Xu Lei noticed Tang Luo's gaze and frowned slightly, "What are you looking at?"

"Nothing, I was just wondering if I could pass President Han's final assessment."

Tang Luo replied offhandedly.

"..."

Xu Lei pursed her lips. You're the only one left, what final assessment is there!

"Manager Xu... wait, calling you Manager Xu is too formal, I'll just call you Sister Xu! Sister Xu, you have to put in a good word for me later; once we become colleagues, I'll treat you to a meal."

Xu Lei nodded; she had a favorable impression of Tang Luo and was willing to speak highly of him.

"When you meet President Han later, speak less. Whatever she asks, just answer that, got it?"

As the elevator doors opened, Xu Lei walked out, giving instructions.

"I got it, Sister Xu."

Tang Luo chuckled inwardly, but his face showed earnest agreement.
