Shun and Aito

140 days remaining

....

Shun's persistence had broken down the walls Aito had put up for himself. Due to his presence around him, the guy started to grow on him. Soon enough, whenever Shun wasn't there Aito felt as if he was missing something. Though he'll never admit it.

As time flew by Aito started to warm up to Shun and his friends. Shun had even dragged him over to his house to meet his family. They were nice people. They reminded him of the warmth of his mother.

Shun was always pestering and teasing him most of the time. At first he used to snap back but slowly he learnt to ignore him when he did that which made Shun always sulk.

A small part of his brains always told him to break it off but he didn't want to anymore. He knew that staying away from people was inevitable but he wished it could have been sooner.

"Hey! What's on your mind?"

They were currently sitting at the rooftop. On the edge of the school building, legs dangling and shoulders touching. Just feeling the non periodic breeze brush past their faces.

"Unicorns." Aito said earning himself a light nudge. A chortle escaping both of them.

Shun had realized that Aito did live upto his nickname in school but not in the way students said. The boy's head was always occupied with the most weirdest and funniest thoughts. Like that one time they were talking about their favorite things.

"I like sunflowers but I don't like that they are yellow. The color is too bright for the eyes. It could have been pink, purple or dark blue but it had to be yellow."

One other time they were talking about space and time travel.

"How can a future exist if we haven't created it yet. It's believable that the past can exist because whatever I said right now goes to the past. The present is like infinite I guess. It's like it exists at the same time it doesn't because within 1/1000000th of a second it becomes the past. But I don't understand how can there be a future because it has so many possibilities and you cannot be sure of any one."

Shun never did mind this weirdness because it was most definitely the cutest thing about him. He'd always listen to him for hours together about what's on his mind. It was never boring but very intriguing. Even he would join in his monologue and drag out their conversations till their brains did nothing but fart.

Time spend with Aito were the best. He was too captivated by him. His smiles and laughter enamored him. He was very well aware of his feelings for Aito since the beginning but he was to afraid to confess. He didn't want to risk their friendship for it.

He nudged the boy again, "Tell me."

Aito looked at Shun but it felt like he was looking past him. Another thing about his personality was that far away look that his eyes held.

"Say if you had a few months left to live what would you do?"

Death was always a common topic in their conversations and Shun never understood why but he never asked. He believed that everyone had something they were fascinated with.

"Huh? Thts a weird question...", he chuckled but answered anyway. "I'd probably spend more time with the people I care about and I'd probably do something nice for someone before dying I suppose."

Aito stared at Shun with a disgusted expression.

"What?!"

"Your such a goody two shoes." Aito chuckled.

Shun leaned on him placing his head on his shoulder, "Ah! Now I can't help that part of me. It's just that I'm too kind."

"...."

"...."

"Your heavy, get off you big oaf!" Aito scorned at him.

"Bear with it." Shun replied.

Aito hmph'ed but didn't complain anymore.

They sat there in each other's company.

They didn't exchange anymore words and took bliss in the shared silence till the bell rang.
