Gunter walked up to lord Payton and shoved him. The middle aged man stumbled back and bared his teeth.
"I know I can't fight you to win, but if you shove me again, boy. I will inform the king you've been hiding a human right under his nose. Imagine it," Lord Payton told Gunter.
And for a moment, Yuè could see he was. His eyes were quivering with rage, his hands clenched into fists, face red. There was no worse betrayal than the king's favorite son hiding secrets from him. Especially on the day of his mothers passing.
Gunter looked to Yuè, then back at lord Payton, and much like a defeated child, he hung his head low. "You can do whatever you want to me, as long as you don't hurt my wife."
"What!? Gunter no." He grabbed Gunter's hand desperately. "You can't, I won't let you sacrifice for me." His brows were lowered over his eyes, lips pressing into a thin, troubled line.
