CHAPTER 4

"So basically, you had a poor life with your mother?"

Lulu looks at her daddy number one with her huge eyes. She definitely heard the word 'poor' before her mommy left her in this place. Seeing the impatient look on her daddy Nathan, Lulu decided to nod her head and answer his question.

"But why are you living like that? Where's your father?"

"...But I am talking to daddy."

"I told you I am not your father." Nathan said with a sneer. "What I'm talking about is your real father!"

Lulu pouts her lips seeing her first daddy is always angry for no valid reason.

"Mommy said a person will turn into a frog if they are always angry."

"Haa..."

Nathan is definitely not a good person. Although he had already pushed a person to the limits until their death, he never tried hitting or hurting a child before. But today, maybe Nathan has a higher chance to prove to the world that he can be one of the worst people living on this planet. And all of it is because of this little girl who keeps on saying nonsensical things.

Nathan is aware that he is a short-tempered person. But his patience this time is getting shorter the more he converses with Lulu. How the hell did Louisa teach her kid? He really feels like that woman just made a smaller and more annoying version of herself and decided to leave this kid in his company building.

"Daddy—"

"I told you not to call me that!" Nathan said in a loud voice.

"But my mommy said—"

"I don't care whatever she said to you. I am not your father so stop addressing me like that!"

Assistant Lim finally knows how brave he is after witnessing his boss treating a small child like his enemy. He is definitely working under a demon under a human's skin. It really makes Assistant Lim to wonder how did he able to survive serving and standing next to his boss for years.

Lulu crossed her arms and looks at Nathan with an unhappy look on her face.

"You will lose me like this in the future. My mommy said Lulu is a precious gem that people want to have in their lives."

Nathan smiles sarcastically after hearing that statement.

"You are surely overestimating yourself. Who cares about you anyway?"

"My mommy! And my daddy number two and daddy number three."

"What?"

"Lulu and mommy live in a house near the pond. It has a lot of turtles and Lulu is feeding them with a lot of vegetables and fruits. We have four big turtles and one small turtle in the pond."

"..."

"Lulu is the small turtle. The four big turtles are mommy, daddy number one, daddy number two, and daddy number three."

"..."

"Just like the turtles, we will live a thousand years!"

"..."

How the hell do those turtles enter their conversation?

Nathan suddenly has another wave of throbbing headache after hearing her nonsensical story. He ignores her and takes a deep breath. If he will summarize again this situation, then it means Louisa left her daughter because she is in a tight situation. But because that woman is not normal in the first place, she decided to send this blabbering bun to them to protect her. Not only that, but Louisa also teaches her to call them her daddies.

Great.

Now is there an instruction too on how he can return this kid back to her mother? Nathan never signed up to be a caretaker for someone else's kid. Even if that someone used to be his closest friend. He has a company to run and every minute of his life now is worth a million.

"Excuse me, boss. But you have a meeting with Mr. Lui today at one in the afternoon. You only have half an hour to prepare."

Nathan clicks his tongue when he heard his secretary's reminder. Now he already wasted thirty minutes of his day dealing with this bouncing nuisance. Standing up, Nathan fixes his suit first and tells his secretary to bring all the contracts they have to sign today with Mr. Lui. It is not the right time for him to reminisce about the past and worry for that kid.

"Let's go." Nathan said to his secretary.

"But sir, what about Ms. Lulu?" Assistant Lim asked while pointing at the little girl who is also observing them quietly with her round eyes.

Surely, his boss will not just leave this little girl like an abandoned puppy without anyone attending to her needs, right?

"Tch. Just call one of your colleagues and tell them to feed it or something. I have an important meeting in just a few minutes."

Assistant Lim is already familiar with his boss's personality. Right now, his patience is already running thin. It is better if he will also keep his mouth shut.

"Da—Mr. Kite, are you going to work?"

Seeing the sharp look that Nathan is giving her, Lulu can sense that he is in a bad mood so she decided to change her way of addressing him.

"Yes. Unlike you who knows nothing but to play and eat, I am earning millions of money every day." Nathan said. His voice has a hint of mocking the little kid.

"..."

Assistant Lim doesn't know what to do anymore. Is there even a need to say those things in front of that kid? Can she even understand his words? What if she suddenly cries?

Surely, his boss has a different way how to think about things around him.

"I can do a lot of things too!"

"Yeah?"

"Lulu can sing you a song every night!" The little girl cheerfully replied.

"Whatever." Nathan said. He doesn't want to pay more attention to that little girl. "Assistant Lim, let's go."

The poor assistant doesn't dare to delay his boss. Waving his hand at the little girl, Assistant Lim quickly follows his boss and walks behind him. He also pulls his phone to send a quick message to one of his colleagues. After hesitating for a moment, he composed a short message and send it.

'Our boss will have several meetings outside of the company today. Please take care of Ms. Lulu for a while. She's in the office. Make sure to give her the things she will need or ask.'
