The aristocratic council’s reaction was in no way beyond King Angelo’s expectations. Rivalry had long existed among the aristocrats who were always vying for power. These people had a jealous nature, and seeing others getting a precious reward, it was only to be expected that this jealousy would erupt.
There were very few aristocrats who served the kingdom with honesty and without caring about personal gain. But while most of the aristocrats were like that, they still had been serving the kingdom for a long time. The aristocrats’ power was necessary to the kingdom, and the aristocrats would become powerless without a kingdom to reside in. The aristocrats and the kingdom had always depended on each other in such a way.
