Chapter two

Lily sunk into the chair as she kept staring at Alpha Alexander. The Alpha was rumored to be very cold-hearted because of the death of his wife.

However, Lily knew there was no other way to get Ethan's attention unless she got close to his father.

"You need to be brave Lily, summon up the courage because no one in the pack wants you now." Lily thought as she gulped down the alcohol in the glass.

The music stopped and everyone went back to their seats. Ethan and Hera sat closer to each other, acting all lovey-dovey.

It was a painful sight for Lily to see and she found herself at the brink of tears.

"It's fine Lily. You got this!" Lily assured herself.

The celebration ended after the King gave his speech. Everyone dispersed to their various homes but Lily was the topic of discussion.

Hera didn't come home that night, instead, she spent the night in the palace with Ethan.

Lily stared at her reflection in the mirror, her fiery red hair cascaded down her back and her blue eyes appeared dark under the chandelier in the room.

"I will make you want me, Ethan" Lily said, and a drop of tear fell from the corner of her eyes.

Lily tossed in the bed that night until she finally fell asleep.

The sun filtered in through the open window. Lily ate the egg as breakfast and picked up her bag. She locked the door with the key and took the Taxi to the castle.

She has been working in the palace as the one in charge of making the dress of the king and prince ready. This was Lily's job in the palace and also how she knew Ethan.

The moment she stepped in, everyone looked at her with disgust both the ministers and the pack members of the king.

"I heard Prince Ethan would soon get ready for his duties, please take these clothes to his chambers," The head maid said to Lily when she got inside the castle.

"I will take it to his room," Lily replied.

The head maid gave the clothes to Lily and she left the room.

Her shoes made a soft click sound on the floor as she walked through the hallway. When she got to Ethan's door, Lily knocked on the door twice before turning the knob to push the door open. Lily shut the door and walked further into the room.

"Good morning—" Lily's words were cut short when she saw Hera sprawled on the bed like a seductress.

A smirk graced Hera'sblips when she saw Lily in the room.

"Oh, Lily? Have almost forgotten you are the one that usually brought Ethan clothes" Hera slurred, as she wrapped the towel around her.

She was stark naked underneath the towel.

Lily felt her legs weakening as she held the clothes in her hand. Her composed expression fell at the sight of Hera on Ethan's bed.

Reece smiled widely before getting down from the bed.

"You know." Hera said carefully, "I thought you were aware that Ethan loves me but you are such a fool that you fail to notice."

"I was always in the room when you would come acting all lovey-dovey. I would hide in that bathroom, waiting for when you will go but I'm glad Ethan realizes you are not worthy enough." Hera added before sitting at the edge of the bed.

Lily felt her back wet with cold sweat at the sudden revelation.

"You are despicable How could you? How could you lie to my face that I am a whore? You humiliated me in for—" Lily snapped in anger.

"Woah, look who we have here! The whore?" The voice belonged to no one but Ethan. He stepped out of the rest room caressing his jaw.

Lily pressed her lips against each other, swallowing back her words. She could taste bile in her mouth.

Ethan's words were like venom to Lily's heart.

"Ethan, she came to deliver the clothes to your room," Hera said after kissing Ethan on the lips.

Ethan unwrapped the towel hung low on his waist and let it pool at his feet. He was only left with a boxer.

Lily summoned up courage. She walked towards the bed, placing the bed on it as she planned to walk out of the room.

"Where do you think you are going?"

Lily stopped in her movement as she turned to face Ethan.

"I'm done here," Lily said with a hint of bitterness.

"You can't tell me you are done here when I didn't permit you to leave. Are you going to disobey the prince because of the ill relationship between you and me?" Ethan asked with a stoic expression.

Lily fought back her tears as she swallowed the lump at the back of her throat.

"How can I help you, Prince Ethan?" Lily asked, bowing her head low before raising it. Her blue orbs were filled with sadness and Hera smiled inwardly.

"Dress for me" He added.

" No " Lily raged, despite holding back unshed tears and Ethan's countenance slowly changed, fury emerging into his orbs while Hera stood by his side, mouth agape and shocked.

" You go to hell" Lily added and ran out of the room into the restroom. Lily held the ceramic basin to aid her hands.

"You can do this Lily. You got this" Lily said as she swallowed hard, trying to fight back the lump in her throat that was threatening to make her burst out in tears.

The maid walked through the hallway heading towards the king's room when Lily suddenly stopped the maid.

"You can go back to work, I will take it to the king's room. Lily said and the maid agreed without saying a word.

Lily took the clothes from her and walked to the Alpha King's chamber.

She knocked on the door gently, inhaling deeply.

Lily opened the door only to collide with a wall. The impact made her lose her footing and her heels bent.

She could feel herself falling back but immediately, a hand circled her waist, pulling her up and she collided with the bare chest of a man.

Lily's heart skipped a beat when she looked up to see the ruthless Alpha king in front of her.

His brows were raised as if he was disappointed to see her in his room.

"Thank you for saving me. I will watch my steps more carefully," Lily whispered, stepping back while Alpha Alexander took two steps back, releasing her waist.

"I came to deliver your clothes" Lily quickly added as her face flushed pink.

Alexander might appear to be around his late thirties but he has always had a young body despite being an Alpha King for the past ten years. His raven black hair was damp clinging to his forehead.

His clean shaved jaw and deep grey eyes scream perfection. His toned six-packs made him look like he had spent most of his life in the gym but that's not true.

He has always been a very handsome man. Many she-wolf wished to be held by him but he wasn't interested in any of them.

"Would he be interested in me?" Lily asked herself.

"Enough to use him as a pawn in this revenge game?" Lily pondered.

"You can drop that here and go back. The maid is in charge of my wears" Alexander added and Lily felt surprised by the harsh tone of his voice.

"Please use the door when you are done," he added leaving the room.

Lily let out the breath she had been holding as she shook her head.

"This wouldn't be easy" but she had been expecting this, especially since the rumors about her were circulating so fast like wildfire.
