Chapter four

Alexander wore a new shirt after Lily left but he didn't know why his emotions were disturbed.

The kind of emotion he has long lost and forgotten about.

Sadness.

Fear.

It could only belong to someone, which is Lily. Alex slammed his fist against the wall as he cursed under his breath.

"Mate, mate," Alex heard his wolf growl in his head.

"I know Lucas; just shut the fuck up, I'm calculating," Alpha Alexander said. Lucas, his wolf whimpered and didn't say a word. He hadn't even marked her yet and he was already feeling her emotions.

Alexander adjusted his dress as he looked at his reflection in the mirror.

He was so enraged when he found out Lily was his second chance mate but the moon goddess was so cruel.

So brutal, that Ethan suddenly confessed that Lily was his fated mate the same day Alexander found out about Lily.

Undoubtedly, Alexander has decided to back off and not touch the girl but who knew Ethan had other plans?

Alpha Alexander pulled out a cloak from the wardrobe and wore it. He got to the doorstep of his second chance mate only to find out she was burning.

He knew he was supposed to go back but his wolf couldn't ignore the sweet smell of Lily that still lingered in the four walls of his room.

"This is forbidden," Alex cursed under his breath as he pushed the door open.

The moon goddess was pulling a prank on him, but still, his temper got the best of him. He walked inside her room, which was pitch black but a moment later, the door was pushed open.

"Who are you?" Alexander heard Lily ask.

The heat disappeared from her body as if she wasn't feeling hot now. She figured out it was not the mating heat but the drink she took.

Alexander stepped outside, and the moon cast its silvery glow on him.

Lily recognized him, of course, who wouldn't? It was the fearful Alpha King of the Red Stone Pack.

The man who forcefully sent her out of his room. Not once, not twice.

The Alpha King was in her room in the middle of the night, and Lily swallowed hard at the sight of him.

"What was he looking for?"

"Did he find out?" Lily asked herself as she stood behind the door.

Alexander looked at the girl in front of him. He could feel his length tighten against his pants just because she wrapped herself in a towel.

Her sweet rose smell intoxicated him, invading his senses but he needed to steel himself. He had to refrain himself from doing what he would later regret.

Lily is the only woman to make him feel like this. She was the only woman who could fuel his desires without touching her.

It was the mate bond that Alexander suddenly discovered the moment Ethan brought in Lily as his fated mate.

Alexander wanted to laugh out loud and lash out at the moon goddess for tricking him, but who knew there were other plans when Ethan suddenly rejected her in front of everyone.

And she has spent most of the past two weeks trying to get his attention.

He knew what she wanted but something was missing. Lily's wolf couldn't sense Alex's own. She couldn't sense the mate bond.

Alex took two steps towards her but she raised her hand with her eyes shut.

"Please leave," Lily said, her voice breaking as she spoke. She wasn't sure if it was because she couldn't face him.

She has been embarrassed quite a lot by Alexander.

Now that he is in front of her, Lily is tongue-tied, and she finds herself chasing him away even when he hasn't said anything.

"I want you to help me. I needed to make your son regret it." These were the words that threatened to fall out of Lily's lips.

However, she was too dumbfounded to speak her mind. She was completely vulnerable before him in just her white towel.

Alpha Alexander didn't say a word and left the room.

Although Alpha Alexander had left for quite a while, Lily's heartbeat was still rapid and short.

"I can't do this," Lily muttered as she sat on her bed.

She had thought she would be using the alpha to her advantage but who knew she would be scared like this.

"You should have asked him what he was looking for. Maybe he didn't come here to embarrass you," Lily said, talking to herself.

"He might have helped. He might agree, or did he finally notice me after so many attempts?"

Still, there was nothing Lily could do. She lies on the bed while reading a book to keep her mind occupied.

Lily makes sure to avoid the alpha king at all costs. Call it being cowardly, she knew she was.

Hera and Ethan didn't catch a whiff of anything.

She delivers Ethan's clothes to his room every day. Sometimes, she would meet Hera in the room.

They didn't quarrel like before but they were enemies.

No one wanted to be Lily's friend and this has caused a lot of issues lately among the pack members.

The gossip and insults were too much for Lily and there was only one conclusion she could draw. It was to go back to the Alpha King.

Alexander was busy reading some of the petitions submitted to him when one of his men came into the room.

He pulled the book down and crossed his legs against each other while his hand caressed his jaw.

"Tell me, what do you find?" Alexander inquired from the man who bowed his head before answering.

"She has been receiving ill treatment from the pack members. Although no one posted the video of Ethan rejecting Lily, the news about her rejection has circulated through the town." The man explained while looking at the king.

"Then it wouldn't be long for it to break down," Alex said under his breath. Right now, he somehow looks like a husband who is worried about his wife's health.

"Do you want me to keep tailing her?" The man asked but Alexander shook his head.

"I think she will be coming soon. You can go," Alexander said and watched the man leave.

Alex rose from the chair and gazed out of the window to see that it was already getting dark.

He strolled to his room and sat gently in front of the mirror.

The first thing that enveloped Alexander was her sweet smell. Lily was right in front of the door, waiting to see if she should open or close it.

The door burst open, and she stepped into the room. Her heart beat loudly in her chest as she took a step forward.

"I know I might have done something that left you speechless. I want you to be my friend alpha. I just need someone to talk to because everyone now hates me because of what Ethan and my sister did," Lily confessed, smiling confidently but she was nervous.

Alexander smiled inside. He noticed Lily couldn't sense him as his mate but that's fine. Since she came back to him, he has other plans and so, Alexander accepts her condition.

"Then you are welcome to my abode, Lily. I will help in any way I can."
