ASOIAF: Alternate Walkthrough

Updates on Monday and Thursday. Well, this novel will closely follow the plot. Now hear me out, I watched the GOT series and I wanted to do my own SI in the story, but for that I need to read the book completely, which I did not. So, instead of reading the book fully and then creating the book, I decided to do both by writing a new novel closely following the plot with a different perspective of a transmigrated Jon Snow. This will give me, enough writing experience for my main fanfic and as well as a reading journey for me. Note : All characters and content mentioned here are taken from George R.R. Martin's book.

CHAPTER 3

Winterfell's Great Keep, Catelyn's bedchambers

(After receiving a letter from Lysa Arryn about Jon Arryn murder, by the Lannister and queen, and deciding who would go to King's landing with the King)

Catelyn had come to love her husband with all her heart, but she had never found it in her to love Jon. She might have overlooked a dozen bastards for Ned's sake, so long as they were out of sight.

Jon was never out of sight, and as he grew, he looked more like Ned than any of the trueborn sons she bore him. Somehow that made it worse.

"Jon must go," she said now.

"He and Robb are close," Ned said. "I had hoped …"

"He cannot stay here," Catelyn said, cutting him off. "He is your son, not mine. I will not have him." It was hard, she knew, but no less the truth. Ned would do the boy no kindness by leaving him here at Winterfell.

The look Ned gave her was anguished. "You know I cannot take him south. There will be no place for him at court. A boy with a bastard's name … you know what they will say of him. He will be shunned."

Catelyn armored her heart against the mute appeal in her husband's eyes. "They say your friend Robert has fathered a dozen bastards himself."

"And none of them has ever been seen at court! The Lannister woman has seen to that. How can you be so damnably cruel, Catelyn? He is only a boy. He needs a place where people care about him, a home to call", Ned blazed.

Catelyn was very much aware of it. But she knows, she needs to make a move now, for her children. She can't raise a potential threat to her children close in Winterfell.

"There is no home for a bastard Ned, and he will not get the care here if you leave him in Winterfell".

Ned turned away from them to gaze out the window, his long face silent and thoughtful. Finally, he sighed, and turned back.

"Very well, I suppose it is for the best if I take him with me to Kings landing. I will speak to Jon; it will be a fortnight before we are ready to depart. I would sooner let Jon enjoy these last few days. Summer will end soon enough, and his childhood as well."

Winterfell, Near the Great Hall

Jon POV,

After my high expenditure of magic, I decided it's time to rest. The problem is I don't know where the hell my room is, I couldn't just ask someone, 'Hey man, do you know where I could rest the sorry excuse of my ass'.

As I was contemplating my choices of whether to sleep in a random room or in the hall like the drunkards, I saw a man complaining to a stout man with soft flesh under his chin, he has white hair and large white whiskers which he impulsively tugs at.

"Ser Rodrik please take care of it, and it is even more amusing that there are more Lannister guards than the Royal guards".

Rodrick with a stern glance, "Don't involve yourself with unnecessary matters Vayon".

As Rodrick was about to leave he watched me in surprise," I thought you would be at the feast Jon".

Ahh, he also knows me, but he does look familiar now, yes, he is that instructor who was executed by Theon in the show.

After looking at him,' I was tired and decided to rest Ser but', I couldn't just say I don't know where my room is.

Noticing my hesitation, "Come on boy, what happened?"

With the best excuse my feeble brain could muster, 'The way to my chamber is rather dark and eerie so huh.,'

"Oh Jon, for someone who named his dire wolf Ghost, you are rather afraid of the ghost in the stories the Old Nan said", then with a slight grin "Come on now, follow beside me".

So, Jon named his pet Ghost it seems, well it is slightly better than mine, I will give him that.

As Rodrick was moving forward," Jon, you must be what, fourteen or fifteen namesday now, remember this, this place is not a fair place for a bastard like you, so try to resolve yourself and grow stronger, Make your father proud Jon".

Saying that he stood in front of the room, gave me a heartfelt nod and left.

A lot of people are trying to give advice, no matter in any world huh, whatever I'm rather tired, effects of usage of life force maybe,

There was a comfy looking bed and as I jumped on the bed, it was not comfy at all. I'm already starting to miss my modern privileges. Just thinking about how I'm going to shit, gave me shivers all thought the body. Never in my life have I ever thought I'm going to miss my bathroom.

I woke up rather early in the morning the next day, which usually happens when I sleep in unfamiliar or uncomfortable places. I just stared at the ceiling for a while deciding what I should do, or rather how to kill a person when I suck at every physical work.

Still nothing came to my mind. This was the reason why I chose air magic, to kill my enemy effortlessly and discretely then raise a loyal undead, repeat the process and grow strong.

'Man plans, God Laughs', in my case it must be the system. As I was deep in my thoughts there was a knock at my door.

Opening the door of my chambers, I saw Vayon standing with an impatient look, "Lord Stark summons you, follow me".

I immediately left with him, it was not because I was afraid of him or anything but I don't know where his place was in this castle? Is it even a castle, it looks like a great stone maze.

Winterfell, Lord's Chamber

Eddard Stark Pov,

"May I get in lord", Vayon Poole asked me.

After my nod he entered the room followed by Jon, who always reminds me of my dearest sister Lyanna Stark, and the promise I made to her which I still hold and not going to change anytime soon.

"I will take my leave lord" saying that Vayon Poole left.

It was only me and my nephew staring at each other for a while.

"Has your breakfast Jon?", I asked with care looking at him.

Fidgeting for a while, he meekly answered, "Not yet …, father". There were some uncertainties in his eyes but I continued. "We will eat together after we discuss your future".

I could see a slight anticipation and fear evident in his eyes, reassuring him "We will be going to King's landing, along with the king's entourage in a fortnight".

Saying he was shocked would be an understatement to the emotions displayed by the boy. It looked like he wanted to say something to me, but he was unable to form his words.

I took it as a hesitation one would feel when they are informed that they are going to leave their home for a long time, I didn't know at that time I could be more wrong.
