Ten Thousand Cycles

Li Feng ran his hands through the smooth, weathered leather cover of the book.

On the top of the brown book, in golden letters, the title of the technique was written in a bold text.

"Finally. I can start my journey." He smiled.

He opened the book, ready to start reading through it.

"Oh, I don't expect you to finish this now. Even if you were a genius, this is still a pretty big technique to memorize." Master chuckled.

"If I had to sit here and wait for you to finish, then I will be losing out. I have more things to take care of in the mean time." He said.

Li Feng nodded.

"Then should I retreat to my residence, Master? I will memorize the book in the next few days." He said.

Master nodded.

"You are clueless about the world anyways. Be sure to go to the other outer sect elders from tomorrow. The first week after new ones come in, basics of cultivation, and the cultivation world are recounted." He said.

"I will be sure to attend those classes, master." Li Feng nodded.

"Good then. It is time for me to go as well." Master smiled as he snapped his fingers.

Li Feng felt a sharp pain in his forehead, and all of a sudden, the darkness around him started to swivel.

The room around him compressed and expanded rapidly, and a second later, his eyes stung with the changed lighting.

"I am… outside? Already?" He looked around once his eyes adapted to the bright lights of the outside world.

He could see the shack once again, and he could see the grass and the trees around him.

"This… how did this happen? This shack, the room was definitely bigger than this shack. And there is now way that that is the only room in the hall…" Li Feng thought to himself.

"Could there be a way to expand space? A way for an illusion that shows a shack that is much smaller than the actual hall itself?" He muttered.

He looked down at his hands, with the leather book that he was given.

But it looked slightly different than before.

He could feel the leather texture of the book, yet what he saw was a black exterior, with tears everywhere.

What he saw now and before were completely different.

"Another illusion. To deceive others who lay their eyes on the book?" He thought to himself.

"Maybe this is a good thing. I have to safeguard this book. After all, it is my responsibility to make sure that others do not find it. It is not mine to share." He made a note.

Looking around, he confirmed that there was no one around him when he put the book inside his robes.

He traced his steps back where he came from. This time though, he didn't have Young Master Shi to guide him back, so he had to think hard on what direction he just came from.

But a familiar scenery helped him find his way back and he could quickly reach the giant arch that marked the exit of the Core sect, and the entrance to the Inner Sect.

"The markings to the Core Sect, are they similar to the Inner sect?" Li Feng wondered as he walked through the arch and looked up at it.

As he stared at the coarse strokes that made the word, he felt a sharp pain in his forehead.

"Maybe this is far more complex than the strokes before. Hopefully, I can come to the point where I understand something about this." Li Feng sighed as he turned around, walked back toward the outer sect.

The walk back to the outer sect was swift and this time, there were few disciples left outside to stare at him.

He passed through the second arch, where the guards did nothing to stop him.

Li Feng quickly found one of the empty residences and settled in.

He had come in with nothing at all, and only what he had on.

Looking around, he could see that the two rooms had a clear distinction.

The second room with just a mat and incense was much higher in Qi density.

It was completely sound proof, and Li Feng knew that it would be better to cultivate and learn this technique in this room.

He sat down on the mat after he closed the door and put the book down.

As if it sensed that he was alone and indoors, the book returned to its original appearance.

Li Feng didn't think much of it, except to marvel at his master's powers.

He just opened the book, and he looked through the first page of the book.

"Open the Zongfu point and the Jingqu point. In succession, open the Chize point and the Yuji point…."

As the instructions piled on, he could see later in the book, the figure of a human body, with all of the points clearly marked.

The Qi flow was shown, flowing through these points in a systemic order.

"By flowing the Qi through these meridians instead of the blood stream, does it really make that big a difference?" Li Feng thought to himself.

But he shook his head and decided to try it out himself.

He looked at the first point, the Zongfu point.

It was at the very edge of his right hand. He closed his eyes, readying himself to direct the Qi toward the point.

But at that very moment, a sharp pain, or rather, a very familiar feeling coursed his body.

He opened his eyes immediately, greeted by a world of white and blue.

"It appeared once again. The world of blue and white." He looked down at the book.

But what he saw now was completely different from what he usually saw.

Instead of seeing a concentration of Qi, he could see a more detailed version of the body diagram.

He could see a hologram of the human body, and each of the meridian points of the body.

The Qi that flowed through the body took the form of a blue light that coursed through this white silhouette in a manner that was very similar to that shown in the book.

But it was slightly different.

Instead of traveling through the lung meridians first, it travelled through the Intestine meridians, starting the Qi flow from the head through the heart.

"Whatever. I will trust it again." Li Feng bit his lips as he closed his eyes.
