The next day, Gun was making his way through the school hallway. Students gave him wary, cautious looks as he passed by, whispering amongst themselves.
"Hey, that's him, right?"
"Yeah, the one they call the 'devil.'"
Two students murmured, glancing at Gun's back as he headed towards the restroom. A rumor had spread throughout the school about Gun's eyes, devilish, inhuman. While most students hadn't seen his eyes because of the shades he constantly wore, the mystery only added to their curiosity. However, no one dared approach him, as his presence exuded a certain dreadful aura that made them instinctively step aside.
As Gun walked, another student was coming towards him, his head tilted down, clearly not paying attention. The student had brown hair, black eyes, and wore the standard school uniform.
"Thud!"
The student bumped into Gun but instead of Gun stumbling or moving, he stood firm like a steel wall. The impact sent the student falling back on his butt.
"O-ouch." The student groaned, rubbing his head. It felt like he had just collided with a solid metal door.
"S-sorry-" The student looked up to see who he had bumped into but immediately froze. Standing before him was the tall figure of Gun Ha: slick black hair, shades hiding his eyes, a black hoodie, and black pants. It was the same appearance described in the rumors, the rumored devil himself.
"I wasn't looking ahead. Are you okay?" The student hastily tried to explain himself, fear evident in his eyes.
Gun didn't respond at first, causing the student to grow even more anxious, thinking he had angered him. But Gun was busy observing the student. He noticed the build of someone who had trained in martial arts. Even though the school uniform hid it, Gun could tell, this student had a disciplined and well-conditioned body.
"I'm fine, but it looks like I should be asking you that." Gun replied, noticing blood dripping from the student's nose. He realized it wasn't from their collision but from an earlier beating.
"I-I'm fine." the student insisted, holding his nose as he quickly stood up and made his way to the infirmary, passing by Gun, who watched him leave. 'Interesting.' Gun thought, noting the student's appearance.
Gun continued towards the restroom and pushed open the door.
Inside the restroom, a student leaned against the wall, holding a vape in his hand. He had blond-dyed hair, black eyes, and piercings. He glanced at Gun as he entered.
"Oh, Gun, is it?"
As Gun entered the restroom, he was immediately called out. He turned his head slightly, noticing a student leaning against the wall. The student had dyed blonde hair, black eyes, and several piercings. He wore the standard school uniform and was currently holding a vape in his hand. His name was Jaemin Shin.
"We don't know each other, do we?" Gun replied flatly as he made his way to the urinals, unzipping his pants. It was typical, people always seemed to know him, while he had no idea who they were. He understood why, though.
"The name's Jaemin Shin, and you probably don't know me, but…" Jaemin smirked, introducing himself with a casual air as he looked at Gun's back. "Who wouldn't know the infamous devil?"
"Hey." Gun's voice interrupted Jaemin's speech. "Get rid of it." He said calmly.
"Huh? What do you mea-" Jaemin began to ask, confused by Gun's words, but Gun cut him off.
"I said, get rid of that stupid title." Gun repeated, turning his head just enough to give Jaemin a side glance. Jaemin flinched as he caught a glimpse of Gun's eye, only a part of it, but it was enough to startle him. The white pupil against the dark sclera was unnerving. Gun was annoyed by the stupid rumor that had spread about him. He hadn't even done anything, yet nearly the entire school knew him as "the devil."
"O-oh, okay." Jaemin stammered, shaken by the partial glimpse of Gun's unsettling eyes. Despite being visibly creeped out, Jaemin knew that the real reason he was nervous had little to do with Gun's appearance.
"But hey, are you some kind of hidden boss?" Jaemin joked, trying to lighten the mood as he returned to his casual demeanor.
"What do you mean by that?" Gun asked, zipping up his pants and heading to the sinks to wash his hands.
"Well, I saw everything." Jaemin continued. Gun said nothing, letting him speak. "How you beat up Chulwoo Min." Jaemin added, but this time his tone was laced with unease. He had been on his way to talk to Chulwoo when he witnessed the altercation. Jaemin hadn't expected to see what he did. When he arrived, he saw Chulwoo confront Gun. Chulwoo had thrown a punch, but instead of Gun staggering back or even reacting in pain, he remained completely rigid. The next moment was what had shocked Jaemin to his core, almost immediately after Chulwoo punched him, Chulwoo himself was sent flying across the classroom, slamming into the wall. Jaemin hadn't even seen how it happened. He knew Gun was responsible, but it looked as though Gun hadn't moved at all. Jaemin had quickly left the scene, shaken and wanting to avoid Gun's notice. Today, he figured he'd try to get on Gun's good side, he had already assessed Gun to be stronger than his friend Manchoon.
"And what of it?" Gun asked as he turned off the faucet and dried his hands with a paper towel, glancing at Jaemin to gauge his intentions.
"Oh, nothing. Just thought you were a cool, hidden type of guy. Who would've expected the quiet dude who plays games to be such a strong fighter?" Jaemin chuckled nervously, noticing the way Gun silently watched him, clearly waiting for him to get to the point. "So hey, tonight, I'm planning to have a drink with some girls from an all-girls high school at the karaoke place next door. Wanna come along?" Jaemin offered with a smile, attempting to sound friendly.
Gun pondered the offer for a moment. Since arriving in this world, he hadn't had many chances to enjoy casual moments like this, especially with people his age. Maybe it was time to change that.
"Alright, I'll be there," Gun agreed.
"Great! I'll see you tonight then. Later!" Jaemin said, visibly relieved, and quickly exited the restroom.
Later that night...
Gun stood outside the karaoke place that Jaemin had mentioned. He was leaning against a wall, hands in his pockets, as passersby gave him curious glances. He wore a short-sleeved black blazer, showcasing his well-defined, muscular arms. His forearms were covered with intricate tattoos, and he had on black pants with a silver chain hanging from the side. His signature shades were perched on his nose, adding to his wild aura.
"Hey, looks like you came early." Jaemin's voice called out as he approached.
"The earlier, the better," Gun replied, standing up straight. Jaemin looked him up and down, eyeing his tattoos and stylish appearance with surprise, especially his tattoos not expecting as such.
"Yeah, you're right." Jaemin agreed with a nod. "Let's have fun tonight." He turned to look behind him as he caught the glimpse of thee figures. "Ah, looks like our guests are here." He chuckled.
Gun followed Jaemin's gaze and saw three girls approaching. Jaemin waved them over.
"Hey, girls, over here!" Jaemin called out.
The three girls stopped in front of them. One of them, with black hair, looked at Jaemin with a playful smirk. "At least you're early this time." She remarked.
"Of course I am." Jaemin said with a grin. "I couldn't leave my new friend waiting." He gestured towards Gun, who stood slightly apart from the group. The girls' eyes landed on him, and they were visibly intrigued. He was tall, with slick black hair and a stylish outfit. His lean yet muscular build was apparent even through his clothes, and the tattoos on his forearms added to his wild yet seemingly mature aura.
But the girls exchanged glances, puzzled by why he was wearing shades, especially since it was nighttime.
"It looks like he caught your attention." Jaemin chuckled, snapping them out of their thoughts. "This is Gun Ha, my friend. He isn't much of a talker, but trust me, he's a cool guy." The three girls took note of Gun's name, but he simply stood there without any reaction, giving them a brief, disinterested look before turning away.
"Well, let's head inside." Jaemin announced, and they all made their way into the karaoke building.
Inside the Karaoke Room
Gun sat beside Jaemin, facing the three girls. Between them was a large table loaded with snacks, soft drinks, and various alcoholic beverages.
"My friend's older brother works here." Jaemin explained with a grin, opening a small bottle of soju. "This place is a favorite spot for the kids in the area to come and drink."
Gun nodded in acknowledgment, leaning forward to grab a bottle of whiskey labeled 'Hibiki.' He poured himself a generous glass, filling it halfway, and took a slow sip.
"Oh, you like the stronger stuff," Jaemin observed, noticing the premium whiskey. "By the way, don't worry about the bill tonight, it's on me!" He chuckled.
Gun gave Jaemin a brief, unreadable glance before taking another sip from his glass.
"And lucky for us, my wallet just walked in." Jaemin added smugly as the door to the room opened.
A young man with brown hair and black eyes stepped inside. He wore a jacket and gray pants, looking nervous as his gaze darted around the room.
"Ah, great timing." Jaemin called out. "Jihan, you paid for the extra time, right?"
"I asked them to give us another two hours, Jaemin." Jihan replied, his voice tinged with anxiety.
'Isn't that the kid who bumped into me earlier at school?' Gun thought as he recognized Jihan. He quickly assessed the situation. Jihan seemed to be bullied both inside and outside of school. The nosebleed from earlier made sense now. 'A wallet, huh?' Gun realized Jaemin was using Jihan as his personal ATM.
"Two hours? You think that's enough for us?" Jaemin sneered, dropping his friendly act as he glared at Jihan. "You idiot."
"I-I'm sorry, Jaemin," Jihan stammered, visibly flinching under the harsh words.
"Isn't this guy just the slowest?" Jaemin laughed, turning to the group as if expecting them to join in.
"Two hours is enough." Gun interjected, his voice cutting through the laughter.
"What?" Jaemin asked, surprised by Gun's sudden comment.
"You heard me." Gun repeated calmly. "I said two hours is enough."
Jaemin's face twisted in confusion before he hastily nodded, realizing he shouldn't question any further. He remembered that Gun wasn't the type to involve himself deeply in social interactions.
'What's he doing here?' Jihan wondered, glancing at Gun uneasily. _Is he really friends with Jaemin?_ The thought made Jihan's stomach twist in fear, imagining how much worse his bullying might become if Jaemin had befriended someone as intimidating as Gun.
Jihan hesitantly took a seat next to Gun but kept a bit of distance, cautious not to annoy him.
"Hey Jaemin, why don't you sing something?" One of the girls with black hair suggested, trying to break the tension.
"Nah, I'll pass." Jaemin waved her off, a sly grin forming as he glanced at Jihan, clearly planning something. He was about to speak again when Gun interrupted.
"Jihan, right?" Gun asked, his voice calm but loud enough for everyone to hear. The question caught everyone off guard, especially since Gun hadn't spoken much until now.
"Y-yeah?" Jihan replied, startled. He braced himself, fearing what might come next.
"I don't get it." Gun leaned back, setting his glass on the table. He tilted his head slightly as he looked at Jihan. "You've trained in multiple martial arts, hand-to-hand combat, weapons techniques. So, what's your excuse?"
"Huh?" Jihan's eyes widened in shock, and the others turned to stare at him, equally surprised. They couldn't believe what they were hearing; Jihan didn't seem like someone who had any kind of combat training.
"For someone like you, taking down this guy would be easy," Gun continued, referring to Jaemin. "Yet here you are, letting him push you around. It's pathetic for something so stupid to hold you back."
Jihan's face turned pale as he felt Gun's eyes on him, even though they were hidden behind shades. He broke out in a cold sweat, unable to process how Gun knew about his martial arts skills, something Jihan had kept well hidden. The entire situation felt surreal, like Gun was peeling back the layers of a person's psyche with a single glance.
"I… I just…" Jihan stammered, unable to find the words. He knew Gun was right, but fear and trauma kept him paralyzed. Years of bullying had left him too scared to fight back, even though he had the capability.
Gun didn't push the issue any further. He could see Jihan wasn't ready to confront his fears yet. He didn't bother to dwell on this matter anymore.
"I'm heading to the bathroom." Gun muttered before leaving the room.
In the Restroom
Gun made his way to the sink, removing his shades before splashing cold water on his face. He looked up, staring at his reflection. His eyes—pitch-black sclera with pure white irises and pupils—stared back at him, an eerie, unsettling sight. He smirked slightly, unfazed by the appearance that unnerved so many others. He dried his face, put his shades in his pockets, and headed back to the room.
As he opened the door, he was greeted by an unexpected scene.
A large, overweight student was sitting on Jihan's back, who desperately tried not to keep him carried without being squashed onto the ground. Gun had only been gone for a few minutes, yet this was the sight that welcomed him back.
"Hey, Manchoon, looks like Gun's ba-" Jaemin started to say but froze mid-sentence. His face turned ashen as he realized Gun doesn't have any shades on revealing his eyes.
'Damn.' Jaemin's thoughts raced, fear gripping him as he met Gun's uncovered eyes. The sclera were pitch black, the irises and pupils pure white, unnatural, terrifying. It wasn't just intimidating, it felt like those eyes were staring straight into his soul.
The three girls, too, were stunned into silence, unable to tear their gaze away from Gun's face.
'What… what is that?' the black-haired girl thought, her heart pounding in her chest. Gun's eyes weren't just eerie; they were downright terrifying, unlike anything she'd ever seen before.
"He's handsome." The brown-haired girl instead of feeling fear, was mesmerized by Gun's eyes. It wasn't just his eyes, his also his face. She was dazed, taking in Gun's appearance.
Next to her, Si-Yeon, a girl with short brown hair, was also stunned as she stared into Gun's eyes. It was her first time seeing eyes like his. But it wasn't just his eyes, his entire appearance seemed to change as the shades weren't on. His stylish outfit, intense eyes, and tattoos made him look more like a yakuza than just a thug. Curiosity sparked within her. 'Is this the first time I'm actually interested in someone?' Si-Yeon wondered. It was probably her first time being drawn to someone of the opposite sex, but she didn't hate the feeling.
"Hm, the guy who beat Chulwoo-" Manchoon, hearing Jaemin, turned around, only to freeze when he saw Gun glaring at him. 'What the fuck?' Manchoon trembled, feeling as though he was being sucked into a bottomless pool. Just one look from this guy made his body react that way.
"Hey, Jaemin." Gun said as he reached into his pocket, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and taking one out, placing it between his lips.
"Y-yeah?" Jaemin replied nervously, unsure why Gun was calling him out.
Gun lit the cigarette, taking a puff and exhaling smoke that twirled around his face, accentuating his intimidating gaze.
"This has gotten boring, don't you think?" Gun asked, looking at Jaemin.
"What do you mean, Gun?" Jaemin asked, confused about what Gun was implying.
"I mean, you're annoying me right now." Gun clarified, clearly irritated. The whole night had been about Jaemin targeting Jihan, and Gun thought he might enjoy some time, but it wasn't turning out that way. The sight of Jaemin's fat friend annoyed him even more. This night was definitely a letdown for himself.
"You bastard, what the hell are you talking about?" Manchoon yelled, clearly irritated by Gun's attitude. Who did this guy think he was, acting like he ran the place?
Manchoon got up from Jihan, giving him a chance to catch his breath. He stood in front of Gun, his face twisted in anger, though he had to look up due to their height difference.
"You bastard, we get that your eyes are special and all, but do you really think you can d-" Manchoon started to shout, planning to teach this arrogant guy a lesson. But before he could finish, Gun's punch slammed into his face, sending him crashing to the ground. The impact formed a pit beneath his head, rippling a shockwave through the room.
"Ever heard of mints?" Gun asked, holding the cigarette between his second and third fingers. His left hand was in his pocket as he looked down at the unconscious Manchoon, whose face was now bloodied and dented.
'What the fuck?' Jaemin thought, stunned by what had just happened. He knew Gun was strong, stronger than Manchoon, considering what he did to Chulwoo, but only slightly stronger. This, however, was on another level entirely. 'Is he dead?' Jaemin wondered fearfully, looking at Manchoon's deformed face. He glanced back at Gun, who was smoking nonchalantly, fear creeping in at the thought that he might be next.
'Holy shit.' Jihan was stunned as he looked at Manchoon who was defeated instantly, not expecting Gun to be that strong. Even he himself knew that this wasn't even the tip of the iceberg of Gun's strength considering his calm face.
'Oh my god!' This was the shared thought of the two girls, one with black hair and the other with brown. Their eyes were wide with shock, not expecting such violence from Gun. His calm demeanor had made him seem indifferent to his surroundings, but they realized now how wrong they were. He wasn't someone to provoke. They glanced at Manchoon on the ground, his state making them nervous, but the brown-haired girl, despite her nerves, looked at Gun with a dazed expression, something different evident in her gaze.
Si-Yeon, on the other hand, was speechless. She was shocked by Gun's strength and the damage he inflicted, but she wasn't scared. Instead, her interest in Gun deepened even more.
"I'll be leaving now." Gun announced flatly. "And I'm taking this guy out if you guys want continue the night yourselves if you want." He bent down, grabbed Manchoon by the collar, and effortlessly lifted him, surprising everyone with how easily he carried the heavy man. He made his way out of the room, leaving everyone in stunned silence.
In the hallway of the karaoke building, Gun walked with Manchoon in hand. He stopped, placing him on the ground before taking a final puff of smoke, ready to leave.
"Hey, you."
Before Gun could proceed, he was called from behind. He turned around to see someone approaching, a tall muscular man with black hair and eyes, his face resembling the guy Gun had just knocked out. He was wearing a staff uniform, indicating he worked here. This was Manok.
"Was it you?" Manok asked as he stopped in front of Gun, slightly tilting his head down to look at him. "Did you do this to my little brother?" Manok's cold glare met Gun's eyes. Although he was startled by Gun's eyes at first, he had to handle the situation himself after seeing his brother being dragged around.
"Hm? Not bad." Gun remarked, sizing up Manok, noting his impressive physique. "Not bad at all." He repeated with a a huge grin that slowly stretched out on his face.
"Yeah, I did it." Gun chuckled, throwing his cigarette to the ground. "So come at me."
"You arrogant fuck," Manok spat, enraged by Gun's admission and his invitation to fight. He wouldn't let this guy walk away after what he did to his brother.
Without hesitation, Manok launched a punch at Gun's face, landing it squarely. But he wasn't the only one who landed a blow. Gun simultaneously punched Manok in the face as well.
"Heh, you've got some weight behind that punch, but that's not all you've got, is it?" Gun smirked, even with Manok's fist on his face. He looked at Manok, who winced in pain from Gun's punch. 'What the-' Manok groaned internally, feeling the force behind Gun's strike. He glanced at Gun's taunting smirk, as if his punch hadn't even fazed him.
'This bastard.' Manok, furious, swung another punch at Gun, who retaliated with his own punch, forcing Manok back a step.
"What's wrong? Is that all you've got?" Gun laughed, seeing Manok stumble.
"Yeah, that's it." Gun grinned as Manok, now angrier, threw another punch. They continued exchanging blows, with Manok clearly being pushed back.
"Keep going." Gun laughed maniacally, enjoying the exchange. Even though he was holding back significantly, he was having fun toying with Manok.
'Just what is this bastard?' Manok screamed internally, struggling against Gun's punches. He looked at the crazy smile on Gun's face, who seemed unaffected by the brawl, while he was bleeding from his mouth and his face was bruised. Gun, on the other hand, didn't have a single mark on him. But before he could gather his thoughts, a stronger punch landed on the side of his body, accompanied by a cracking sound.
Gun slammed a punch into the side of Manok's ribs, breaking them. Manok's eyes widened in shock and pain, but it didn't stop there. Gun followed up with a punch to his stomach, making him double over and cough up blood. The breath was knocked out of him, and his eyes shut tightly as the pain was overwhelming.
"What a disappointment that was." Gun said as he raised both his fists, bringing them down onto Manok's back, slamming him into the ground. A crater formed beneath Manok's body, debris flying out, and the impact sent a tremor through the room, followed by a shockwave.
"Truly, wasted potential." Gun remarked, looking at Manok's unconscious form. He had expected more from this guy, given his impressive build and physical condition, but it seemed it still wasn't enough.
"What the fuck was that? Ahaha!"
"Yeah, it felt like an earthquake just happened."
Suddenly, the doors of the karaoke rooms opened as a crowd of young people walked out.
"Wait, isn't that Manchoon?"
"Fuck, you're right, and it's Manok too!"
"Did that guy do this?"
The group shouted as they recognized the familiar figures sprawled on the ground. They looked at the person standing before them, realizing he was responsible for their state. Gun's intimidating appearance and piercing eyes initially startled them, but seeing their numbers, they grew confident and quickly surrounded him. Gun, who had been smiling a moment ago, became expressionless.
"Ten seconds. That's how boring you guys are." Gun said flatly, clearly losing interest as he assessed who was now standing against him.
"This fucker."
"Get him!"
The group, enraged by Gun's arrogant remark, wasted no time and rushed at him.
Back in the karaoke room:
"What the hell was that?" Jaemin said, feeling a tremor through the ground.
"Was that an earthquake?" the black-haired girl asked, feeling the same intensity of the vibration along with the others.
Jaemin and the rest walked out of the karaoke room but didn't see anything unusual at first. Just as they started to relax, a loud impact echoed through the hallway, startling them.
'What the fuck, again?' Jaemin was startled. 'What's going on? What's causing these impacts?'
He didn't hesitate and dashed toward the source of the sound, which was down two more hallways.
"What the fuck?" Jaemin muttered as he reached the third hallway. He stopped in his tracks, stunned by the sight before him. He looked around and saw his friends scattered on the ground, bloodied and bruised, with cracks spreading across the floor. 'Just what the hell happened here?' Who could have done something like this? But his question was answered when he spotted Manchoon and even Manok, both brothers, lying on the ground. 'C-could it be him?' Jaemin gulped nervously as he thought of Gun. He was the only one who could have done this, especially since he was last seen dragging Manchoon. 'Just what kind of monster is he?' To do this alone was already unbelievable, but to defeat Manok, who was even tougher than Manchoon? Jaemin's fear of Gun skyrocketed.
"What happened here?" A voice called from behind Jaemin. It was the black-haired girl and the other two, who had caught up. They were just as shocked as Jaemin as they took in the scene before them. Unconscious bodies littered the ground, and the damage was evident from the cracked floor.
"Hey, Jaemin, what happened?" The black-haired girl asked again.
"Hah, can't you see Manchoon lying there? Obviously, it was Gun." Jaemin snapped. Couldn't this girl figure out the obvious? After all, Manchoon was last seen with Gun, so there was no doubt it was him. And it made sense that Manok would have stepped in after seeing his brother in that condition.
'He did this?' The black-haired and brown-haired girls were stunned. They hadn't expected that Gun could be capable of such devastation.
'So he did this.' Si-Yeon had already figured it out; it had to be Gun since he was the one with Manchoon earlier. But she was shocked by the extent of Gun's abilities. She glanced around at the people lying on the ground, trying to picture Gun in action, but it was beyond her imagination. Her curiosity about him only deepened.
'I need to call for backup.' Jaemin thought, pulling out his phone to dial for help. He needed to get these guys out of here.
"Well, it looks like the night's over. Let's go." The black-haired girl said, turning to leave with the brown-haired girl following.
'Hm?' Si-Yeon caught a glimpse of something on the floor out of the corner of her eye as she was about to leave. She walked over and picked it up.
'Gun Ha.' Si-Yeon looked at the ID card she had found, which had Gun's picture and name on it, along with his address.
"Si-Yeon, aren't you coming?" the black-haired girl called out, looking back and noticing Si-Yeon still standing there.
"Yeah, I'm coming." Si-Yeon replied, slipping the ID card into her pocket before leaving with the others.
