The fire burned bright as Tom came out to change with the soldier for patrol.
He was yawning when he arrived. “Colak, you can leave now.”
The soldier thanked him as he bowed. He showed the guards' points and handed him the warm mug of tea. “The night might get colder, Sir. Should I bring you back a blanket?”
Tom waved him off. “Get going, kid; I will call if I require something.”
Colak nodded and left. Tom cracked his fingers as he stretched himself in front of the fire. His shoulders were relaxed as the war ended. Tom wanted to finish the road to the capital fast. He wants to go back to the Eastern camp, his home. Since Tom was an orphan, Rante was just a place where he was abandoned. Eagle camp was the place where he made a family. He was excited to see the happy faces of his cadets. Tom picked up the stick beside the campfire and stroked it to spread the fire properly.
