Arifureta: The Labyrinth Maker vs the World

This is the story about a Labyrinth Master managing his massive Labyrinth while becoming a villain (literally) while causing events, good or bad directly (or indirectly) caused by him to happen. This story isn't just about him, it's about redemption and change, how the world of Tortus will be changed from time to time under the main Protagonist's actions. Don't expect this story to be the same as any other. Note: Canon? We are not following canon, expect new concepts such as Anti-Hero Kouki and a lot more things like Hajime and Kaori being together in the abyss. Oh, did I spoil you?

I am The Villain now, Am I?

A Bit Earlier....

Hajime has been feeling that something bad was going to happen soon, ever since they entered the Labyrinth, most of them felt like someone was watching them.

He and his classmates, or most of the Hero Party since their teacher and a few reluctant people was assisting in the agriculture of Heiligh Kingdom, went down the Labyrinth.

"Hah! This is just a piece of cake, right, guys?" Kouki said with a confident smile, only for the Knight Commander Meld, who was supervising the Party, to shake his head.

"It doesn't matter. You all still needed to be careful." He said as he watched over the group. "We'll return once we explore the 40th floor, then we'll continue after a while."

However he did not expect that something quite stupid would happen.

At the 21st floor, due to a misunderstanding by Kouki, he recklessly used one of his stronger attacks, called [Celestial Flash] to kill some rockmounts that leaped over a group of girls.

Gosh, talk about holding back in tight spaces like this.

A part of the wall broke apart, revealing a massive crystal which was simply called Grantz Crystal. A very valuable crystal which can be turned into a part of a wedding ring.

And as you might have known, without some people noticing, the moment Kaori took liking to it, Daisuke Hiyama immediately ran towards it like an excited child.

"Hiyama! You idiot---!"

It wasn't clear who yelled that, but immediately as a trap had been activated by him, the entire group was sent somewhere in the middle of the bridge.

It was just at this moment that they heard crunching and biting sounds coming from somewhere in front of them.

Before they could ask themselves what was going on, a calm voice of a man reached their ears.

"Welcome."

The group's focus shifted upon the man.

At this point they all had questions in their minds.

Who is he?

Why is he here, and so calm even when there's a massive dragon (wyvern?) behind him devouring the corpse of a monster?

What is he going to do?

Meld Loggins immediately stepped in, raising his sword protectively as if doubtful of the man.

"State your name, sir!"

Silence is broken after a brief pause.

"I am the Judge. The person who will decide whether you... Mortals, have a strong sense of morals, and enough strength to go past this floor and challenge the worse below this."

The man began to speak, before shifting his tie and sighing after pressing his glasses.

"But it seems you, who managed to accidentally get here, are still as weak as a dry branch."

Sarcastic comment aside, it managed to make some people angry at him.

"Hey! Who do you think we are? We're Ehit's apostles, and we have the potential to beat you!" One of the people rebuked, only to be silent when Oscar shook his head.

He was disappointed, of course.

Some of the students realized that he may, or may not be more similar to a secret boss.

"Really? Prove it to me then. After I ask you three questions, which only one person, the Hero can and will answer. Answer them correctly and I will let you leave until we meet again."

The Hero, Kouki stepped forward, relieved and confident about what would be asked.

"I'm ready." Kouki said, ignoring the feeling of doubt inside him for it was a weakness.

At this moment, Oscar thought of some good questions, to make the Hero doubt his powers.

"Do you really believe you're saving the world and humanity, then getting praised for it as your merits grow with

And immediately, Kouki answered with a fist raised.

"Of course I do! I'm the hero, after all! We were summoned from another world, so I believe that we're going to become strong enough for this heavy task!"

Oscar nodded his head.

"A good answer, indeed. Then, what do you think of the Demons from the Southern Continent?"

Just like the previous, Kouki answered immediately without questioning what he was asking.

Kouki; "They're vile monsters that wanted to conquer the world and enslave humanity after they've won. They've grown too strong, that's why we were summoned, to fight them."

Oscar: ".... You're so naive..... Even the priestess in your group is better than you."

Kouki: "What do you mean?"

The hero's question wasn't answered as Oscar began to walk closer to the group.

Boots were heard clacking, and it was becoming closer each second.

Is he going to attack? Many of the Hero Party took positions, afraid of what might happen to them soon.

Even the soldiers began to shake in their boots.

What the hero answered was true, correct and just, right?

"You know what? Here's my last question for all of you people from another world, not just this child in front of me. But first, did any of you manage to take some time reading any books of history?"

Hajime, who was standing on the back, immediately raised his hand, something wrong might happen, so....

He needs to get this done.

"I do!" He shouted, getting the attention of many people. "I mean, I've been visiting the library for a while before being here, so I might be ready for something."

"Okay.... What do you know about the Mavericks, then?"

While Hajime explained, even if he was becoming more and more reluctant every second, the guards and the students were pretty terrified.

"So that means....."

They came upon the slow realization that someone that shouldn't be, was alive.

".... You're Oscar Orcus, the Maverick?!" Hajime said, pointing at Oscar the moment he pieced together many clues.

And then Oscar began to clap his hands.

'Ah, shit. He's probably the Secret Boss of a DLC, but the DLC was downloaded in the start....'

"Everyone! There's no way we can win against him, even Kouki! It's just not possible right now...." Hajime said, taking steps backwards.

Some immediately thought of leaving the place without question, intimidated by Oscar's mere presence alone.

They're going to fight him? Impossible!

Despite many of them being intimidated, some stood tall.

Meld Loggins, Shizuku Yaegashi, Kaori Shirasaki, Ryutarou Sakaguchi, Suzu Taniguchi, and even Kouki.

"You said you wanted to prove our strength before, right? Then we'll prove it to you right now! Right, guys! We can't just stand back and run away!" Kouki said, taking a combat stance.

"I'm with the students, I don't know if you would let us go afterwards, but we're forced to fight you." Meld spoke, tightening his grip on his sword.

In response, Oscar shifted his glasses, and brandished his umbrella.

"Hmm.... Your foolishness is admirable. Now come, pawns of the false god!"

'Damn. That sounded very cool, I didn't even need any rehearsing!'
