Ch. 17: The Death of a God

"Where did I go wrong?"

"What did I fail to do?"

"No, what did I do?"

"Was it my fault?"

"It must have been his."

"ALL HIS FAULT!" The god roared at the other portions of him milling about the small stretch of barren dirt. How long had he been stuck here... alone...? He didn't know.

The god could always retreat from his world to another, but none of those other gods would accept him. Just a lonely god with no planet anymore...

He had been tossed away. Trapped like garbage for years on end. Maybe decades. Possibly centuries.

His mind was starting to fracture, causing portions of himself to just appear like ghosts, slowly going mad.

It all came back to THAT one.

He had stolen the god's planet. The god's puppets, all dead. The monster had mocked him. Attacked him, then thrown him aside like yesterday's garbage.

It didn't even have [Omnipotence] yet. Otherwise, it would have already killed the god.

Maybe that would have been preferable. No, it would definitely be preferable to this living hell. Trapped alone for centuries, maybe. Just waiting for death, with only his own fracturing mind beside him for comfort.

"JUST KILL ME!" He screamed into the void, knowing nobody and nothing would hear. The door to the planet that had been stolen from him would always remain closed. Years after years of banging, begging, even licking had taught him that.

"Happy to oblige." A voice echoed in the void, answering him. god believed it to be a trick of his shattered mind and didn't answer, but his conclusion was refuted when the door finally opened instead.

"You look horrible." A familiar voice. A familiar face. The monster who had forced the god into this nightmare stood in front of him now, but the god didn't have any fight left in him. Six figures shuffled through the door behind the monster.

"please..."

"He really does look horrible."

"I feel kind of bad for coming here to kill this pathetic thing."

"Seems like the solitude made him crack. Poor god."

Some of the beings behind the monster offered their comments, but the god barely registered them.

"So... are you here to end my suffering?" The god asked the monster.

"Fae. Riven." The monster nodded to two of his subordinates, who lifted their hands. In an instant, every single piece of the God's fractured psyche except for the original had been simply erased, and the god's main body was being held up by its wrists.

"This seems cruel."

"I promise you, this one deserves it." The god recognized the voice. It was... Ravana... The dragon. Even her soft heart was closed to the god's pain.

"How many have you destroyed? Just wiped their souls right out of their bodies just for the fun of it? How many people have you killed just because it seems fun?"

"Just kill me." The god said to the monster.

"I always wondered something. Why did you give me my power?" the monster asked.

"You stole it. I wanted to give you a more destructive skill. It's your destiny to destroy everything, after all." The god didn't have any reason to lie to the monster.

"Maybe so, but you won't be around to see it." And with that, the god drew his last breath.

This is the shortest chapter yet, but it's also the end. After leaving the god in solitude for several decades, Arc finally obtained the Omnipotence skill (Even though he'd already broken Kid by then, and didn't really need it), and as usual, mercilessly ended Kid in the most brutal, overpowering manner possible.

I plan to eventually create a spin-off that will explain the extra five people, calling it "The Archon's Path", but for now you'll have to be satisfied with the little time jump.
