The thrill-seeker Wil was out at night for his daily dose of adrenaline, hopping from one building to another when he stumbled upon a crime. Keen on knowing who the murderer was, Wil fell to his demise and later found himself in a suburb.

But victory had come at a cost. The Phantoms were bound to the rifts, cursed to guard them for eternity. Vashra's desire for freedom had led to an eternal prison, one from which there seemed to be no escape.
Now, with the emergence of the humans and their ATechs, Vashra saw a glimmer of hope. The humans were strong, resourceful, and determined. They had the potential to close the rifts and free the Phantoms from their eternal bondage. But first, they had to be tested. Only the strongest would prevail, and only the worthy would earn Vashra's aid.
As he pondered these thoughts, a dark figure emerged from the shadows. It was another Phantom, but this one was different. Its form was more defined, its presence more tangible.
"Master Vashra," the figure said, bowing low. "The preparations are nearly complete. The wards are being strengthened, and our forces are ready."
