Everywhere she looked, villagers were covered in blood, frantically trying to rescue other disaster-struck villagers. Su Shu's head buzzed, she dared not think, dared not listen, and ran home with Douzi.
"Douzi! Su Mei! Come here, this way! This way!"
From a distance, an older sister loudly waved and called out to them. Su Shu and Douzi quickly ran over.
The somewhat unfamiliar older sister saw Su Shu approaching, took a child she was protecting in her arms, and said, "Feng Jie went to rescue people, she told me to protect Xiao'ai here and wait for you."
Su Shu's eyes welled up with tears. She hugged Xiao'ai tightly and kept thanking her, "Thank you, sister! Thank you, sister!" Her voice choked up, uncertain of what words of gratitude were appropriate.
Xiao'ai was all she had left; she could not afford to lose her.
