Fallen Cherub

She pressed her hand against the glass of the small window and stared straight into his eyes as the metal sphere she was in began to vibrate.

"Will you be there when I arrive?" She asked her father. Through the speaker beside her she heare his reply.

"Don't worry about me. You'll be alright. You have all you'll need."

"Dad, don't leave me! I don't want to go by myself. Please don't leave me alone again." She said as she began to sob.

He was quiet for a bit.

 "I'll be right behind you."

 "Promise?"

 "Promise."

She was blasted into the open void of space. In the pod she was strapped with in and waiting to land. Watching everything from the window. Watching the ship where everyone else was grow farther away with the earth behind it. Watched her hopes get crushed as a blinding light swallowed. Everything behind her. She couldn't hear the explosion. But she didn't have to. She felt it. Watched the explosion almost catch up with her ship. She waited for her Dad. He'd never lied to her before. Why woulyhe then. She knew he would come for her. She waited while watching the pretty lights outside, falling in and out if sleep. She hated the quiet. It was too much.

 Nobody heard her call.

 Nobody heard her scream.

None to tell her to stop crying.

So she continued to wait. Even when she felt her ship crash. Even when the movement stopped. She waited cause she was sure he'd be there for her. To call her a good girl for waiting. To tell her a joke to make her laugh.

 He never came.

Years had passed. And she was no longer waiting. If he wouldn't come she would go to him. Even if deep down she knew nothing was there. She wouldn't just give up. Looking up at the night's starless sky she swore to herself she'd go back. Even if there was no where to go back to. She missed home.
