I took a deep breath and made the call to Teacher Lowell. As I listened to the ringing tone, I felt the familiar stir of nerves in my chest. Then the line connected, and the sound of his voice came through, steady and reassuring as ever.
"Zack, what happened?" he asked, a tone of concern coloring his words.
A smile tugged at my lips. His voice had that effect on me—grounding and steadying my thoughts. I began to explain slowly, recounting the events that had brought me to this moment.
As I spoke, I could almost hear the gears turning in his mind, processing every detail with that sharp intellect of his. A few minutes passed before the silence was broken by the unmistakable sound of his laughter—rich, full, and full of joy.
"Ha...Ha...Ha!" His laughter echoed through the line, and I couldn't help but feel a weight lift from my shoulders.
