Born and raised in a poor asian family, David Dawn was the second born of the Dawn household, before him was his 3 year older sister. Though it can't be said that he was deprived of any necessities growing up, the most important thing to any child however, was their health.
Some might not consider having a healthy body to be of anything rare or exceptional, but to a poor child, it would deprive him of not only his childhood, but his potential as well. David was born with wrinkly yellowish skin, his cries rang hoarsely attracting pitiful looks from the surrounding doctor and nurses. This was a sign of a premature birth.
He was quickly brought to his mother who despite his looks, loved him dearly. His father was an upcoming heart surgeon dedicated to his craft. For his career, he chose to travel constantly to learn from other doctors, leaving his family behind to fend for themselves.
This was not much of a problem if that were only the case, David's father was also a devout patriarchal man, believing his importance to be above everyone else in his family. Satisfying his fickle ego, he chose to invest his and his wife's hard earned cash into pretentious promises, pushing his family into debt several times.
His sister, Marrie Dawn was the favorite child of his father. She was his trophy, for she was exceedingly cute with dark , doe-like eyes, lovable face and a hime cut. She was your typical straight A student and was great with the piano organ that his father had spent a fortune on.
David however, despite outgrowing the yellowish skin, became a small and lanky kid. Despite his unordinary appetite, he becomes skinnier and skinnier as the days pass, only his belly bulging out, veins protruding the pregnant-like belly of his. He was an energetic kid, never staying in one place, truly, a menace to his parents.
It was peculiar however, how often David would fall into sickness at the slightest touch. Almost succumbing to a high fever when he was just 3 years old. He is often described as a skinny, Somalian kid for his resemblance with their hunger beaten physique. His medical files, piling up as the years pass.
His fate, however, changed for the better after three lengthy hospitalizations ironically. Once after the removal of his tonsils, freeing him from a life of sickness. Once after the removal of a tumor in his hands, and another after his playful tendencies made him fall from the second floor, hitting his head. All of this happened before he was 5 years old.
Coming out of hospitalization, David became a different entity. He was quiet, he was shy. He tended to observe more and became patient. His body began to change for the better, he was still a skinny kid, but now with a lot more muscles developed pushing him back into the norm.
Growing up, he made a lot of friends everywhere he goes, yet the friendships never lasted. Best friends became strangers, and new relationships are lost with time.
At first this bothered the young David, but by the nth time it happened, he was happy knowing he had fun. Because he was often sick and was the youngest child, he was often doted on by his mother, who in turn neglected his sister due to his unexplainable fragileness. Marry was unsatisfied with the little attention she got, naively strived to become better to get her mother's love and attention...
She trained the piano zealously, became the top scorer of her peers, drew pictures to attract her mom's attention…but it was all for naught in her mind. Any attention which she perceived as the measure of a mothers love was short lived due to the amount of work that the once frail David and her work has caused.
Marrie's father was always away and the mother was always with her brother. Lonely and disheartened, she took David's neglected panda plushie and made it her friend. It was a gift from her father to David. Marrie's plushie family exploded from a single panda to three, to four, then to six. It was a family of pandas as well as their distant relative of teddy bears, ect…
Along with the creation of her soft and docile family created a seed of hatred in her mind. She hated her dad for always being away as well as the smell of alcohol that he brings when he returns. She hated her mom for not loving her and giving her the attention she deserved. What she hated the most however, is her brother, David. Ever since he was born, her mother, who had always given her all the attention and love that she wanted, had turned her back on her. All the plushies and toys that she would often get is instead directed towards her sick brother that never bothered. Her mother, who often slept with her at night, bringing her a sense of safety, had instead gone to her brother, leaving her to sleep alone at a young age. She hated how often her brother cried as he lay in his bed, sick. But what she hated the most was how little her brother had to do in order to get the love and attention that she desperately fought for but to no avail.
This hatred and suppressed anguish had led to tens of situations where she had no control over her actions. Even after growing up to become a young adult, she can't help but to claw at her brother's face whenever he retords or questions her decisions. She can't help but to, in her mania, grab anything she could get her hands on to hurt her brother.
All of this had never resulted in anything but a slap on the wrist for young Marrie as it was often attributed to 'children fighting'. All of this changed however, when Marrie, in her mania, had almost clawed David's eye out in a small argument. Shocked at what she have done, the mother was worried about her daughter's behavior. This had escalated into a situation where Marrie was treating her 3 year younger brother as if they were enemies. This animalistic tendency had led Marrie to feel further estranged from her family.
The years passed by and the once poor and in debt family seemed to have won the lottery overnight. The father's dedication to the craft had landed him a title like no other. He was the first heart surgeon of Country X, he was a doctor and excellent surgeon and now, the director of a small private hospital. His once inflated ego explodes in scale. He spent millions, purchasing expensive cars that he deemed worthy of his position. Bought a penthouse in the capital city, a brand new grand piano. His furniture is handmade from permineralized wood, natural rock walls depicting an interpreted buddhist saint.
If the human ascends to heaven, his dog ascends with him. It was the golden era for the Dawn family. Yearly, 'dogs' compete to frolic to the father's door, bringing with them piles and piles of gifts. Young girls open their mouths, spilling nothing but sweet little nothings into the fathers ears. The father was mesmerized, not with the paltry gifts nor the trifling boot-licking but with the authority and power he has over his fellow humans.
He is the Patriarch of the Dawn household. He flicks his fingers and dogs will lick with glee. Whatever he wants, he will get. When he says a word, heads will nod until they snap. He was the powerful, the almighty…until he met his peers.
The father despaired at the wealth of the business tycoons, he despaired at the power the officials wield, but most importantly he despaired at his short lived fame.
…And so the devil whispered into his ears, the 'dogs' became 'snakes' and yet, he thought he held more power than ever. Enamored by his continued success, he dabbled into politics, a place where he had no expertise, no experience in…and yet, he succeeded. He exploded as the 'most excellent citizen', landing himself a seat within the circle of power that he so thirsted for, making headlines for his worlds, his decision. He now wields the power as well as the fame and recognition he so desired…and so he wanted more.
One day, the prime minister came for a meal. He whispers words of encouragement, assuring the father of his position. Both smiled with glee, hands were shaken and drinks were had…and yet, one was playing politics while another was playing the good samaritan.
The father exploded with confidence, 'backed' by the prime minister of Country X himself, he spent no time hesitating in his actions. The father was transferred from the small yet united hospital into the country's biggest. He became the director after the latter was jailed. The father decided that, for his journey to the top he will change the whole health-care system in Country X…yet he was no longer endowed with the guarantee of expertise.
The father was putting his hands where it didn't belong, he was doing a mass clean up of the system, cutting out all the corruption, trying his best to save every single cent to 'serve the people'.
Before long, it was clean, and he was greatly praised for his actions by the common people. His peers were silent however, and many sneered.
…
There was an investigation.
The father voluntarily exited the official circle.
The police turn over his house looking for non-existent evidence.
His loyal 'dogs' were caught and the 'snakes' snitched.
All of the sudden, his family now had to tread with care. They now had to avoid staying out and moving houses became the norm.
…
The father was convicted of corruption. Properties were confisticated to make up for the 'loss'.
…
The future of the Dawn's household now lies within their children's hands.
