"I should get going now."
Lisa stood at the massive gate, not going inside. She did not want to leave Nick alone at the gate, or that was the excuse her emotions had her make.
But in reality, she knew that she felt awkward and afraid heading inside. She did not want to meet the boss and be subjected to his harsh presence, nor did she want to feel uncomfortable when people looked at her in the house.
All Lisa wanted to do was spend a quiet day.
"Lisa, do you want me to-"
Nick opened his mouth to suggest something, but the bodyguard Lisa had messaged quickly spotted her and got angry.
"Hey! You are back? Why are you messaging me only after you are back? What would you have done if the boss saw you? What if I was with the boss and he noticed that I did not come to pick you up? What would you have done?"
The bodyguard harshly grabbed Lisa's arm and squeezed it to convey his warning. It made Lisa flinch, but she remained calm.
